Hi guys! My first post ever on any internet forum, the passion of Splinterlands has given me the courage.
First of all, this is purely my opinion and please feel free to tell me immediatly if u think iam wrong and why! This is meant to be more like a discussion.
I wanted to talk about a thing that i see so often talked about: Is it worth it to rent up for EOS or for more chest for the daily quests?
What i find to be often conflicted is, that spending Dec for gaining more chests is an actual investment. There was a number that i often encountered in roaming reddit or this forum, which is every chest is worth about 60Dec.
I have to say I disagree quite strongly, especially when it comes to end of season Rewards. The chance that people are taking for spending big numbers of Dec for the equal amount of chest, when u use the 60 Dec Number, meaning: 15 more chest for 900 Dec (and maybe iam wrong with 60), is simply not worth it. Sure you might get lucky and the golden Oshannus is waiting for you, but how often did u get 900 Dec+ out of 15 chests. And even if u are the god of luck himself you are still taking the chance of just spending 900 Dec without almost any retun, which u can actually invest elsewhere. Even if u take a smaller number, lets say 40, you can take your 600 dec and buy 2 epic Reward Cards, which will give 200 Power and the possibilty to rent them to others for 0.5 Dec a day. Save for another one level it up to level 2 and u might even get 1.5-3 Dec per Day for it.
The difference is: Actually buying a specific asset and a product that you think is worth holding, VERSUS turning the slot machine hoping for a good asset. I do acknowledge that opening chests is really fun, but we shouldnt let hype, FOMO or whatever you call it, make our spending decisions!
Now renting up for daily chest is something that iam doing too and this is how i justified my gambling addiction: I rent for power and winrate(good Cards that help me win) and earn all of my spendings back within the day. I usually am renting a whole gold deck with a powerful gold legendary, spend like 400 dec a day and make 600 back by playing + i get 12 Chests in Gold, since i always have a quest saved up so i can do 2 in a day. The difference for me is that I know i get my money back PLUS earnings PLUS the chests and since renting gives one power and cards, it is possible to make more earnings per game since you are in a higher league. This ALL happens withing a 100-50% ERC rate.
Its all about getting the most out of our investments and bad luck shouldnt ruin our experience
