Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!
Nightreaper has long been my trump card in Earthquake rulesets. It has both Flying and Wingbreak abilities that make it dominate. It's also a versatile unit that can play tank or in the backline. It's a unit that's also great in Wands Out, Magic Reflect or Blast rulesets because of its stats and abilities. It's a unit that's hard to replace when it moves out of Modern Mode. Recently, I've been looking at the reward card Kazira Vaelstrik. While it may not be as good as Nightreaper in the rulesets I mentioned, it does have stats and abilities that will make it a great unit in Earthquake and Poison rulesets. It can also be as versatile as Nightreaper. In today's post, we'll go over Kazira Vaelstrik's lore, stats & abilities and show a sample battle.
Lore
Kazira Vaelstrik is a follower of Yrsiss, the Goddess of Sovereignty. She believes true power must be seized through strength and absolute control. Kazira rose through a brutal warrior hierarchy and she became famous for her spear mastery. She is great in both long range and close quarters combat. Despite her success, Kazira grew restless with the empty traditions and rituals of her sect. She wanted a greater purpose beyond dominance. She joined the Conclave Arcana’s expedition to the Pristine Northwest not for wealth, but to pursue power itself. Kazira seeks dominion over the Splinterlands and will destroy anyone who stands in her way.
Stats and Abilities
Kazira is a ten mana, epic dragon card. At the highest level, she deals five range damage and has four speed. Her defense is excellent with six armor and nine health. She has Flying and Immunity abilities that make her a trump card in Earthquake and Poison rulesets. She also has the Close Range ability that enables her to play as tank, utilizing her beefy defense. This makes her a versatile unit that can play in the front or back. Finally she has the ability Final Rest that can counter abilities like Resurgence.
My Kazira is only at level one at the moment. I'm aiming to get her to level three where she gets the Close Range ability.
Featured Battle
The battle had the Earthquake and Lost Magic rulesets. I chose Dragon and Water combo led by the archon Kavor Skarn. I had a dual tank pair in the frontline of Doomshield Warden and Blue Wyrm Travesty. In third is my legendary card Chuma Marandu. The next two cards have the Flying ability including Kazira Vaelstrik. Finally I had Syrenth in the last position to draw attacks with her Taunt ability.
The enemy also had the same splinter combination and unluckily for me, had a higher level Kazira in his lineup. Also his archon is much stronger, the legendary dragon Nidhoggr. He also had a dual tank pair in front and two Flying units including Kazira. My team was able to keep up in the early round but later on, the Blast damage granted by the archon to his two units decimated my army.
It was my loss but I had fun seeing Kazira in action even in the enemy camp.
