A long-awaited Land update is just knocking at the door and soon this update will boost the economy of Splinterlands and create more rewarding opportunities.
Once "Land Update 1.5" is live, players will be able to use their lands to generate and harvest grain, SPS, and Research tokens. Although the process of obtaining these harvests is not quite simple, land owners can prepare themselves by getting certain items and fulfilling some requirements before the launch of update 1.5.
Your Owned Cards Are the Workers On a Land Plot
Yes, you need your own cards to be used as workers (except Runicore) for the land plot, you cannot use cards that are delegated or rented. To use a Runicore as a worker it must be delegated to your account beforehand.
You must stake your cards to use them as workers on a specific plot. Usually, you'll have 5 slots for the production of resources, but there is a special case where you can stake 6th card as a worker also. (Look for the Power Sources section for more information.)
- Staked card will be locked by default
- Once a card is unstaked, it will take 3 days to unlock and be available for any other use
- Unlocking time can be increased beyond the 3-day unlocking period during the staking process up to 30 days manually
- Cards in unlocking mode cannot be used for any other purpose or as a worker
- Soulbound rewards cards cannot be used as workers unless a special fee is to be paid in DEC or Vouchers to unlock their utility on plots
Power Sources Are Mandatory to Enable Workers
Your workers need mana to be able to start producing resources, that is why Splinterlands introduced 2 different power sources for channeling mana to the workers and equipment.
The power sources can be a Power Core, Runicore, or both. Currently, these are 2 power sources that are introduced in the Land 1.5 update.
Power Cores
- Power Cores are priced at 5000 DEC or DEC-B
- Power Cores require Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) to be staked to thrust mana into workers
- Power Cores are non-transferable
- Power Cores remain with the account even if a land plot is transferred to another player once Update 1.5 is patched up
- Power Cores obtained in "Building-in-a-Box" (BiB) package will be soulbound to the purchaser's account
- Players can transfer their BiB packages with Power Cores before Land Update 1.5, later on, they won't be able to transfer Power Cores.
Runicore
This is the best source of power to convey mana to workers, Runicore needs to be delegated to an account and then staked to be used as a power source.
- Runicore does not require Dark Energy (Staked DEC) to channel mana into workers, it has an efficient mechanism enough to generate mana
- Runi is also a worker card, you may add 4 more workers alongside Runicore
- When a Power Core is staked on the same plot where a Runi is staked, a 6th worker slot will appear, now that player can add 1 additional worker on that plot
Stake Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) to Run the Power Core
Power Cores need staked Dark Energy Crystals to produce mana for workers, without staked DEC power cores will not work. It is to be noted that Runicore does not require staked DEC.
- How much amount of Staked DEC is required can be determined after a player stakes cards and items on a plot
- Although, 10,000 staked DEC may needed for a fully upgraded common card to produce resources at the best production rate
- Staked DEC can be unstaked at any time without any fee and can be used for any other purpose
- As soon as you unstake DEC, you'll see a harvest event immediately because of unstaking DEC.
What Are the Resources
There are currently 3 types of resources that can be obtained from a plot by completing the above requirement, these are Grain, Research Points, and SPS tokens.
Grain
- Grain is required to feed workers to produce resources
- Workers consume 0.01 grain per base production per hour
- Base production does not include production boost received from land rarity, Titles, and Totems
- Grain can be purchased from the Land shop at the price of 1 DEC or DEC-B
- Grains are transferable from one region to another or from one player to another
- Transferring grain will levy a tax of 12.5% on the initiating account, the tax will be deducted and burned
- Natural land is more suitable for yielding grain
Research Points
- Research points are used to discover the Secret of Praetoria
- All landowners must work together and increase the territory research points to find the secret
- When a land owner reaches 10,000 Production, 1 Research token will be entitled to his account and that territory
- Each time a Research token is given a 10% tax will be deducted as a result
- Research tokens are nontransferable and bound to the territory where they are accumulated
- Constructing a research hut on a magical land will give a 100% production boost to Research point accumulation
SPS Tokens
- SPS rewards are distributed from a pool dedicated to land owners, how much SPS a player will earn depends on the production ratio on that plot
- Occupied Lands are suitable for mining SPS and provide a 100% boost
What Are Time Crystals?
Time crystals are the means to speed up production or construction by 10K Production Points per 1 Time Crystal used. 1 Time Crystal provided 10,000 Production Points for reducing the time of the construction, you can entirely remove the Grain cost for workers when you finish a worksite construction using the required amount of Time Crystals.
Time Crystals are a transferable item and can be bought from Castle by paying 100 DEC or DEC-B, 3rd party markets, or getting from another account.
I hope you'll have an overview of how to prepare for Land Update 1.5 as early as possible and what sort of items and cards you may start to gather before the update goes live.
