Weighing up LIFE summoners.
Good Morning Splinterfriends - today, I want to bring you one of my biggest mind wonderings - and it's one that really does get at me, because I don't know the answer. But first, let me start with my problem.
In a nutshell, I have made some investment decisions and purchased 40,000 card power over my time in the game. A lot of that in December/January - and, at prices above the current market. I'm OK with that, because I'm not going anywhere, but it has made me cautious of what comes next.
And - that 'comes next' has to be LIFE splinter. You see, I don't like playing LIFE. I don't have the deck to let me win in it, unless I come up against someone who is equally useless in this splinter. Then, it's a battle of the weakest!!
So I'm trying to figure out the best pathway forward, and for me, that starts with the summoner. I feel I have three options here. I initially wanted a card which would allow me to play Level 2 legend summoners - but have since wondered whether this is absolutely necessary, given Adelaide Brightwing is likely to be the only legend I would level up.
In reviewing my best buys, I have a couple of thoughts.
- General Sloan
This guy will support an arrow attack, and become a necessary attacker card to really get your damage pumping. And, at $2.10 per card, I could buy 14 easily to take him to Level 2. It would be a reasonable proposition to be able to go forward with this card, however - it limits my attack to arrows. I'm a sneak kind of guy, and looking at magic and sneak options in this splinter. I want to like the General, but I wonder if I'm not more attracted to his price than his usefulness.
- Mother Khala
My next option is Mother Khala, when I first started in the game, I rented this card non-stop, but havn't used her much lately. I liked that she would boost all your card healths - but she used to be around $10 per card. Now, I see her at $4 per card, and she has my very interested. For under $60 I could take her to Level 3 and play a Level 2 legendary. She's useful and the price is OK.
- Chanseus The Great
My next option is to go for gold, and pick up a Chanseus. This card is really awesome - and his Resurrect, paired with the Shieldbearer's Taunt - goodness, you will have some lasting power in a battle. That said, you largely need to be playing high mana battles to make this strategy work. At $90 per card, I could buy one - but, he's hard to level up - as a Level 2 would be setting me back $270! For that money, I'd prefer to take Mother Khala to Level 6 and consider how she could be useful in GOLD league down the track!
THE WINNER
- Lorna Shine
Let's face it, Lorna is a solid card. Her invincibility ability will so often wreck an opponent's side - giving each of my cards a 'free' hit' in a sense. She is also powerful in low mana battles where hits really need to count. At $12 a card, she isn't cheap, nor expensive - but, she is a great balance!
What made the decision?
In the end, I decided I want to be able to play Silvershield Assassin - he's a good card at Level 1 or Level 2, but - to be really effective, he needs to be at least Level 3. To that end, I needed to rule out Chanseus - I would have need to spend the near $300 to get him to that point to play this card (rare) in the right spot. It was therefore a no brainer - my summoners are important, but I need to play them with the right cards.
Thanks for joining me, and giving me the chance to think through my thoughts. Lorna is right for me, but she might not be the right card for everyone - so do your own research and good luck with the hunt!
