Hello Splinterlands fam!
Welcome to another fresh Splinterlands post and I hope all of you are doing well in life and enjoying this beautiful day with your loved ones. Now, for those of you who play splinterlands daily and seriously, I guess you all are focused on your seasonal mission right now while also keeping an eye on the other gameplay modes, such as Tournaments, Brawls and Frontier mode. If you are playing in this ongoing season, then most probably you have already reached your goal or are very close to it, because we have walked down almost the end of this season and looking at the season timer, only around 4 days and 21 hours left for it to meet its end. So, if you haven't reached your goal yet, whether it is to enter a certain league tier and claim reward chests or to compete and secure a glorious seat in the top champion leaderboard, I would advise putting all your strength and focus and accomplishing it as soon as possible. Because, unless you are an OG player with an unbeatable card collection and a master of strategies, you may not want to play during the last 2 days of the season, as the battle arena literally turns into a bloodbath during that time.
Now, for me, as I have shared in my previous posts, I have been playing the newest Frontier mode for quite a while now. Not to mention that playing this mode dedicatedly and regularly, I have been rewarded with tons of foundation cards and already upgraded most of my cards to archon level 3 and some even to their max levels. This new gameplay mode, called Frontier mode, is a completely free-to-play mode, where you do not need to buy or rent any cards or any tokens (SPS or DEC) in order to start playing this mode. You can just start by playing the campaign mode first, which will earn you a bunch of foundation cards for absolutely free. Then you can use those earned cards to start your journey in frontier mode and earn more cards from daily mission rewards, which will help you build your foundation card collection organically, without investing a single dime. However, if you want to boost your collection fast and be competitive quickly, you can also choose to invest by buying these foundation cards for a dirt-cheap rate at the splinterlands market. Many players, including me, who have already played this mode for some time and learned about all the cards and basics, are choosing to buy some particular cards and upgrade fast.
Right now in Frontier mode, I am playing at the highest Gold I league tier with a trophy count of 3,460 and having only another 4 days in hand, I will try my best to push my trophy count to 4,000 while completing as many missions as I can. If you play in the highest Gold league, then you get rewarded with one foundation booster pack and three raffle entries for completing each of the 3 daily missions. Now, just like the other booster packs in the game, every foundation booster pack contains 5 cards, including at least one card of rare or higher rarity. So, if you manage to climb up to the Gold league and hold your position there, you can earn a good amount of foundation cards (from 5 to 15 cards) each day simply by completing these daily missions and it's a great organic way to gather new cards and upgrade them all to higher levels.
Not only that, every week splinterlands organises a frontier raffle draw, where rare black and arcana foil cards are given out to random players if any of their raffle entries get selected. The last raffle just ended yesterday and this time, I entered the raffle with a total of 48 entries, but as usual, my luck didn't shine enough once again and I didn't receive anything from the raffle draw. Including the last one, I have entered in total of 15 raffles, each with a decent number of entries, but somehow I am being awkwardly consistent in not being selected, and have come to a point where now I don't even feel excited to claim my raffle result. I am only focusing on winning more foundation packs and looking for good deals on foundation cards, so that I can upgrade my whole foundation collection to max level.
When I claimed my raffle result yesterday to see if I had won anything, I again got disappointed and went to sleep without thinking much about it and didn’t even open the 2 foundation packs that I won. Today, as usual, I again started playing and stopped after winning 2 packs, and my battle energy bar was below 20. By now, I had a total of 4 packs, and following my habit, I went and opened them all at once to see the outcome. But I wasn't at all prepared for what was waiting for me. Let me quickly share the outcome first.
Yes, one of those foundation cards literally flipped into a gold foil legendary card. And not any legendary card but the amazing Mystic Scaleweaver, the best and most powerful magic attacker from the water element. Even when the card started shaking during the flip, I just thought it would be another legendary and was just wishing it to be one of the legendary cards I have not yet upgraded to max level. But somehow by God’s grace, I was rewarded with my first foundation GFL card today and I felt very excited and happy to receive such an awesome gift from splinterlands, before Christmas!
This legendary gold foil card came out as a max level, as in the foundation edition, cards can be upgraded only up to gold league levels. If we look at the market, currently the lowest Gold Foil Mystic Scaleweaver listed for sale is for around 9.4$, so that’s a very good price for a foundation card. No doubt it immediately soothed away my lain of losing another opportunity in the raffle and boosted me with enough motivation to continue my journey.
