In recent days after reading so many articles, podcasts, and youtube videos regarding the news of whales leaving Splinterlands being its downfall I like to put in my perspective. The title of this post pretty much shows my position on the topic, but hear me out.
Back In The Day
was one of the first whales in Splinterlands. He had owned over tens if not hundreds of alpha max level sets but decided to sell it all out in a time where Splinterland's future was not certain but progress was to be made. j6969 did not like the direction the game was going and below is direct link to his post stating why he wound up leaving.

The crust of his dislike was the impact bots were doing to Splinterlands. People with very little would be able to extract rewards easily and in bulk with the use of bots. His post was written in 2020 and to this day the core issue of bots is still an issue. Yet roll into 2023 and Splinterlands is still here. Its market cap may not be at all time highs but it sure is not zero. The game is still running and multiple updates are in the horizon. What better time to be playing than today if we were not already playing the game?
I started playing Splinterlands in 2018. I had my account in June 2018. Through the years I had times I needed to get away from the game in order to deal with personal life activities, but overall I had stay active enough to watch its evolution.
I started with zero in the game and earned what I could through the years. Although nowadays the rewards and earning are no longer as easier in the past it has retain value and it is not impossible to gain some sort of value from the game.
No matter what doubts you may have for the game it does not mean its the same for everyone. For every person that leaves there will be others to join because they see the value Splinterlands has to offer.
Let me finish by saying maybe right that the bots have hurt more than help Splinterlands. Yet he was wrong that the game would end up worthless. I still play and so does countless others. As developers of Splinterlands continue to evolve the game and introduce new elements/side games in time more players will join.
What To Do?
Do what you want as this is not financial advice. What I will be doing is saving up and buying up cards where I need to build a Chaos deck. I am not going to back out or leave when I have enjoyed the game for this long. I admit its not the best and there are days I feel like I need some time off. Yet I always come back because it is truly my most favorite game for the past half decade.
Until next time thanks for reading!!!
