Is gold foil better than regular foil cards? If so how much better are they? Today we briefly look at the advantages of gold foil over regular foil.

Lets cut to the chase here. Gold foil cards will only be better if the price of the card is reasonable. What is reasonable you ask? Each card has a base value and that is the DEC burn rate value.
A quick ratio between gold and regular we can see for Alpha, Beta, and Untamed they are 50 : 1 between gold and regular. While in Chaos it is 25 : 1. What this tells us is when we see the price of a regular foil the equivalent gold foil would be 50 times or 25 times greater. Seeing a price less than those ratios will likely mean the gold foil card is price less than if one bought the same amount of regular foil cards. It does not mean gold foil is automatically the cheaper route.
Take for example Gloridax Guardian regular foil selling for $17 at the lowest on open market. The card multiplied by 50 x would be the equivalent of a gold foil, so $850 is the gold foil cost....
Instead open market we are seeing a gold foil 1 bcx is $3200.
This concludes the gold foil version not affordable relative to DEC burn rate. To cut it even closer in price analysis note DEC current value in $ terms is close to $0.002. Find card values with DEC price close to that is extremely rare and likely not ever happen, but in the past when the game was not as popular there were times cards selling at or below DEC burn rate.
Use Case of Gold Foil
With price of goild foil at a premium what are the benefits of using such cards?
First is the 5% DEC bonus users get in rank battles for all wins. This is staked bonus therefore if a player has 1 summoner gold foil and 6 monsters gold foil that is a total of 35% DEC bonus if they win the battle. The bonus will also stack on top of alpha and promo bonuses.
A second benefit of gold foil cards are the tournaments that players can enter. Due to the limited gold foils in print there are not many that can enter into gold foil only card tournaments, but if they do get that chance to do so the tournament winnings are some of the most lucrative in the game.
It is worth noting even if one has a full set of gold foil cards to compete in these tournaments they will have to exhibit some skills to get to the top and actually earn rewards.
Conclusions
I end the post with noting that any of the 0 mana cards gold foil is something of a useful way of earning the additional 5% DEC bonus. Often low mana matches will result in less DEC earn due in part less cards being played, yet having a zero mana gold foil or two in on the field gives the player more DEC at the end of a winning match.
There are great uses for gold foil cards, but the price of them are at an extreme compare to their regular counterparts. Once in awhile you may find a gold foil price reasonably well it is then that you could purchase it and have a better chance of making profit out of the investment. Besides that it is very difficult to see how one can get as much benefit in game with the use of gold foil than what they pay for it.
