Hello there.
Welcome to my Rentals post. I am structuring my post based on abilities, and looking at cards that have good value at Bronze levels to help newer players get started. I usually follow a personal filtering system in my rentals, where I look at the price, CP/DEC, abilities, and other things. I went through it in Part 1.
In my last post, I discussed about cards with the Blast ability, this time, I'll be discussing the cards with the Blind ability.
Let's get to it.
Blind
Blind is a good ability to use especially when the Rulesets bans the use of Magic damage. Blind affects all enemy monsters, and works on all Melee and Ranged attacks. It gives the enemies an increased chance of missing their target. If a monster has Phase, Blind will also work against Magic damage. For those using starter cards, Blind is not available. In fact, Blind is a very powerful ability and there is currently no monster in Bronze that has it.
Lir Deepswimmer is a summoner that I sometimes rent when I get lucky and able to find a cheap deal. Apart from the Blind ability, Lir also gives ally monsters the Return Fire ability, and +2 Armor. In a Lost Magic ruleset, I think Lir is one of the strongest summoners. With the additional rulesets, Lir can be used in a lot more battles. He is also very powerful in the Going the Distance ruleset where only Ranged monsters are usable.
Believe it or not, Lir is the only Bronze level card that has Blind. If we go a tier higher to Silver, there is only 1 additional card available that has the Blind ability:
Giant Squid is a Rare Water card that costs 5 mana, has 2 Ranged Attack, 2 Speed, 1 Armor, and 5 HP. It gets the Blind ability at level 4. It is an Untamed card, but at level 4, it is not that cheap to rent. Since Blind affects the whole enemy team, it is very strong. Giant Squid being the only monster in Silver levels that has blind makes it almost a must add/rent.
As seen from above, there aren't a lot of viable options for Bronze and Silver level cards with Blind. The fact that both of them are in Water makes it even more insane. I always try to rent Lir at level 1 when I can find a price that matches my requirements, and I will probably rent the Giant Squid when I do start playing with Silver Level decks.
Since Blind affects the whole enemy team, and affects at least two attack types, I can see how powerful it is and why it is limited to higher level cards [as compared to something like Demoralize, Silence, Headwinds]. I am curious if they will release a monster with Blind in the lower levels in the future.
That is it for my Blind Rental post. I plan on making one for every ability, and the next one will be on Bloodlust. Don't hesitate to let me know what you think, and if have suggestions for improvement.
