Hello there.
We are now halfway thru the Rebellion presale, and a lot of the whales are still biding their time. Since my post last week, almost 20k packs have been bought/removed from the remaining amount. With only 205k packs remaining, there is still plenty of packs for everyone. Reading the discussion on discord though, some were saying that in the previous presale, 100k packs were quickly bought up in the last few minutes.
I like to consider this as the calm before the storm. Looking at the leaderboard, the top 6 has not changed since last week. Even the number of packs they've bought has not changed. The most interesting thing though is that all 6 were not in the top 10 of the Chaos Legion presale.
What's even more curious is that apart from Cryptomancer [currently ranked 83], the top 10 of the Chaos Legion presale is nowhere in the top 300. I'm not sure where the others are, but I can only assume that they are waiting for the last few minutes to buy a lot of packs and get into the top 6 places. The top 5 players last time combined to purchase more than 100k packs.
This was taken from the Splinterlands Discord, Official Announcements channel.
The team didn't give any teasers during the last town square, so for this post, I will talk about the airdrop changes for Rebellion. In previous presales, the number of packs bought determined the odds for getting an airdrop card. But in Rebellion, they moved away from that. The packs bought in the presale only work for the promo cards, as well the titles and card design.
They created 'Conflicts' for the Rebellion airdrop. Conflicts will run for a month, and players can buy "Battle Wagons" using vouchers to participate. Players can stake unopened packs, as well as cards on the Battle Wagons to earn points based on the total collection power of their stake.
Each wagon can hold 5 cards, and up to 100 packs. Each pack contributes 150 CP, while cards can be combined to maximize each slot. At the end of a conflict [month], the total contribution is computed, and a number of airdrop cards are distributed. There are a specific number of airdrop cards available, so it looks like each conflict will have its own leaderboard.
The cards and packs used in the wagons don't have to come from the presale purchase. This means that even if you didn't buy from the presale, you can still join the Conflict and try to airdrops. Cards that are staked can still be used in battle, but anything staked in the Battle Wagons can't be transferred, sold, or rented. The staking and unstaking is instant, so it still gives players a lot of control.
According to the team, a big reason for this change is to encourage players to keep the assets in their account, instead of just flipping it for profit after buying in the presale. The points reset after every Conflict, but the Battle Wagons do not disappear. Keeping the cards and packs staked in the Wagons stay that way for the start of the next Conflict, so minimal changes are necessary.
That is it for my second Rebellion update. As long as the Social Media Challenge is Rebellion themed, I'll continue doing these types of posts. I don't really mind since I am very excited for the release, and it is my way of getting updated on what's happening on the sale.
