Hi, I'm Paul, an aspiring graphic designer and illustrator.
I’ve been pretty busy these past few weeks because I’m working on an animation for my thesis. It’s been a lot of work with long nights, tons of drawings, and way too much coffee! But even though it’s tiring, it’s also really exciting to see everything come together.
To take a break, I’ve been playing Pokémon TCG Pocket and other mobile games. Opening card packs and battling is a fun way to relax after a long day of work!

MY ART REFERENCE
Image sourced from the Splinterlands Game
For this week's art contest, I decided to create a fan illustration of the Shock Trooper.
Based on its lore, Lash Stagmuck, a skilled Scavo technomancer, is known for creating the Runi. Now, he’s working on his next invention: the Electrovolt Zappack.
This special backpack is powered by a mix of mana, water, and bottled lightning. When attached to a weapon, it charges it with electrified water magic, making attacks more powerful.
Rebel forces have been testing the Electrovolt Zappack in battle. However, the early versions have a major flaw, they tend to shock not just the user, but everyone nearby!

MY ART PROCESS
For my artwork, I want to showcase the Shock Trooper in a fun and energetic look. His wild, spiky hair, caused by electric shocks gives him a unique and eye-catching style. His gloves and arm guards suggest he’s ready for battle, but his big smile and relaxed stance make him seem confident and a bit carefree.
For the coloring process, I want the sturdy chest plate with a glowing blue symbol, along with a scarf and shoulder guards that add to his armored appearance. I wanted soft shading and lighting to bring out the details in his outfit, while the simple background keeps the focus on him. His overall design makes him look like someone who’s been through plenty of electrifying action but keeps going with a grin.
