Hello there, this is my entry to the "Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge!". If you want to participate, click here. You can participate even if you don't have the theme card.
TEMPORAL MASTER
Temporal Master is one of the low-mana mages available in the Chaos Legion pack. It deals with just 1 magic attack and has low health as well. It comes equipped with an interesting ability named recharged that allows it to attack with 3 times the damage but it can perform this attack every other round. So a double-edged blade. Let's see how it performs in a battle.
My Lineup
This is my lineup for the battle
I chose Lithain as my summoner which gave all my monsters an extra speed point and the ability to return fire i.e. the ability to damage back monsters who use range attacks. It was a standard battle with 24 mana cap. I like the mana cap in the higher ranges, gives me more freedom to choose my composition.
In the first position, I placed the Blinding Reflector as a low-level tank. I chose a low mana tank to save up for my attacking power. Although it has 3 shields but deals just 1 melee damage.
In the next position, came the Luminous Eagle, one of my favourite cards from the game. It comes with flying and reach ability that makes it both harder to hit and allows it to work from the 2nd position in my lineup. Its 2 melee damage makes up for good attacking power. Along with the return fire ability from the summoner it becomes a massive unit in my lineup.
Next came the Vulguine in my lineup. Although, I don't have much experience using this unit it still performed much better than expected. It has a nice ability called scavenger that increases its max health each time a monster gets eliminated from the battle. It remained undefeated until the last round only because of this ability.
In the next position, I placed the Temporal Master. I tried to shield it as much as possible with the placement as it had only 2 hp. Its unique ability to recharge and attack 3x was very useful in this battle. And the fact that it deals with magic attacks, so it can't miss those 3x damage.
In the fifth position, I placed the Celestial Harpy, another low-health unit that can deal 1 melee attack on its own but comes with one of the most useful abilities, opportunity, that deals damage to the weakest monster in the lineup and the ability named flying that helps it to dodge attacks easily.
Another mage came in the last position in the form of Time Mage. It was very useful for the entire battle as it can slow each unit from the enemy team. My opponent also used this card in their lineup.
My Strategy
My Strategy was to go for a light tank and save up for my firepower. I used cards that were lower health and depended on Luminous Eagle and Vulguine to stand their ground while others attack ferociously from the back.
Lithain proved to be extra useful, especially with the type of lineup my opponent used. They used three ranged attacking monsters and my return fire ability proved to be fatal for them.
Being a 24 mana battle, I could use all my slots for the battle and utilise them fairly effectively. Using Temporal Master can prove to be a mistake in low mana cap battles.
I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.
As you can see from the above battle, it never looked like I was behind the matchup. My opponent's triple ranged composition proved to be a massive disadvantage against the Lithain.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Yes, my strategy worked well in this case. If it was an even higher mana cap battle, I would have used another mage in place of Celestial Harpy. But for lower mana cap battles, I would have to think about my strategy from scratch. This might not work there.
Do you like the Temporal Master? Why or why not?
Not really, I have placed a few battles with Temporal Master but the fact that it takes a whole round to recharge can be too tricky and luck based. But it has a great use case in higher mana cap battles (25-30), whereas in low mana cap battles it sucks and might get eliminated even before dealing any damage most of the time.
