This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Regal Peryton from the Earth Splinter...
This is one of my favourite cards from the Chaos Legion set, with very high speed especially for the usually slow earth splinter, high health , flying at level 1 and 1 magic damage.
The battle below features a Level 1 Regal Peryton chipping in to a victory....
The Rule Set and Line Up
- Mana cap 27
- Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)
Summoner - Obsidian
- Failed summoner - a decent low mana tank when you've used most of yer mana to stack the back ranks
- Regal Peryton - high damage but also high health and speed and flying, giving a decent chance of missing him so a useful second tank
- Elven Mystic - combined with Obsidian a decent damage card
- Khmer Princes - a solid low mana damage card
- Goblin Healer - the obligatory high damage healing card
- Venari Spellsmith - scattershot as so many cards in lower leagues have low health, and sneak soak as scattershot isn't always that successful.
Did my strategy work?
Beautifully, to see it in action click here!
- Round 1 - Carnage from the outset! The awesome Regal Peryton takes out my opponent's Life Sapper in the front row straight off the bat, but then I lose my Venari SpellSmith to my opponent's sneak attack, then take out his Carrion Shade, followed by his Cursed Slimeball.
- Round 2 - The Peryton strikes again taking out the Silent Shaavi and then it's all over as I kill off his remaining monsters by the end of round 2!
How important was The Regal Peryton?
Essential in being my main damage dealer, pounding my opponent's cards hard and taking them down in one blow, two for two, and getting in the first strike of the rounds due to having the highest speed.
However it was probably more a case of my opponent losing this battle rather than me winning it - I fail to understand how he could field a team with such low health for 27 mana, it was just too easy to carve through them!
Final Thoughts: Regal Peryton - worth buying?
While this is one of the more expensive cards it's worth it IMO as it is a beast for the mana at Max level...
7 speed is HIGH, 8 health is very decent and a massive THREE magic damage.
So when played with the usual Obsidian summoner this is a great card to play maybe towards the back to soak up a few sneak misses!
If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?
