Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
I'm here for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured rule set Counterspell. It is a rule set that reflects magic damage back to the attacker by gaining the Magic Reflect ability.
The Battle that I will show to you this week was from my account that has max level Chaos Legion deck borrowed using NFTY Arcade and is currently playing on the Diamond league for modern format but before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this rule set.
Counterspell

Abilities to Consider:
| Counter Abilities | |||
|---|---|---|---|
Protect and Divine Shield if monsters have extra armor and divine shield, their health won't be reduced so easily while when attacked by melee monsters or use melee monsters to attack the opponent.
When there is a Counterspell ruleset, expect that the opponent will use range or melee to avoid the Magic Reflect so it is better to have monsters with Demoralize and Headwinds to reduce melee and range damage of the opponent. It is also expected to have monsters to have armor so Rust could also be useful.
Counter abilities will also be handy to have such as Return Fire and Thorns which will deal damage back to the attacker while Backfire, when activated, deals damage when the opponent missed an attack.
Having Shield and would also help reduce the damage taken from opponent attacks and when a melee monster attacks, it only gets half damage if it has Shield.
Amplify monsters will be handy with this battle as they will increase the damage of Counterspell by +1.
Not only that Reflection Shield gets immunity from Blast damage, it also was immune against Magic Reflect.

Opponent's Line- up
My Team
For this battle, we have the featured rule set Close Range which allows range monster to be able to attack at 1st position as well as Going the Distance and Silenced Summoner. Given this conditions, I choose the following cards for my line- up:
Summoner: Conqueror Jacek gives +2 speed which increases the chance that my monsters be able to attack first and they would gain Piercing and be able to penetrate the armor of the opponent add to the RNG that Scattershot brings.
1st Position: I used Forgotten One as it has huge armor and health while negative status effects does not affect it because of Immunity and can do extra attack against melee monsters with Retaliate.
2nd Position: I placed the Tinderlock as secondary tank with it having decent health and can attack at first position despite being range card due to Close Range ability.
3rd Position: I placed Molten Ash Golem which has the Weaken and Demoralize to reduce the health and melee attack of the opponent. It also has the Close Range ability.
4th Position: I placed Lava Launcher for another Close Range monster with such a huge damage and can inflict Stun on its target.
5th Position: I placed Ash Mirage since it has Reflection Shield to prevent Blast damage from reaching Countess Sinash and it also has Headwinds which reduce range damage.
6th Position: I placed Countess Sinash to hide it from indirect attacks as it already has the Camouflage which hides it from direct attacks and with its Swiftness ability, I can increase the speed of all ally monsters. The blast was also helpful to deal additional damage to monsters adjacent to the target.

Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at 3speak or in Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
As magic attacks became disadvantageous for this match, I focus my team on range attacks with big damage and are fast and with the stat boos from the summoner, they became faster and be able to deal damage first. The use of cards with Demoralize and Headwinds also greatly help in reducing the amount of damage my team could get from my opponent.
