What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a Digital Collectible Card Game Powered by Hive Blockchain Technology. Blockchain technology is powering the future of gaming allowing players to trade sell and lease their card assets. Splinterlands makes it easy to earn daily. Players can win rewards from Tournaments Ranked play and Quests.
Splinterlands 是什麼遊戲?
Splinterlands是一款運行於區塊鏈(HIVE區塊鏈)上的數位咭牌遊戲。區塊鏈技術讓參與Splinterlands遊戲的玩家能於網絡上運用加密貨幣進行咭牌交易,玩家之間可以進行買入/賣出、租賃/出租遊戲咭牌。同時玩家能透過完成遊戲的每日任務、參加公開賽及每半個月的賽季積分獎勵等,每天獲取不同等值的收入。
First, I want to introducing about the cards.
首先我先來介紹咭牌。
Learning Cards / 認識咭牌
There are seven different attributes in Splinterlands cards. They are Fire, Water, Earth, Light, Death, Dragon and Neutral respectively. You can only select one attributes from six of them (Fire, Water, Earth, Light, Death and Dragon) with Neutral attribute in each battle. Each attribute has five type of cards, they are Summoner, Melee type, Range type, Magic type and Supporting type respectively.

Summoner Cards / 召喚師咭
In Splinterlands, players face off in one on one battles. For the match, each player selects a summoner, and then chooses a selection of monster that are either neutral or that belong to the same element as the summoner. For example: Fire Summoners can use Fire Monsters and Neutral Monsters. Most summoners have related skills that can improve their team's ability or reduce the opponent's team's ability, and high-rarity summoners even have 3 additional skills. If you want to win in battle, choosing the right summoner is important.

Monster Cards / 怪物咭
After selecting a summoner, you must select up to six monster cards to form a team. The type and number of monster cards that can be selected each time are based on the summoning value limit (Mana Cap.) that can be used in the game. The summoning value limit of the game starts from the lowest 11 to the highest 99. Each monster card has different summoning value requirements (Mana Cost), so when choosing a monster team, you need to weigh the summoning value, attack strategy, and monster skills to make trade-offs. Monster cards are divided into three types according to the attack type, namely melee type, long-range attack type, and magic attack type. In addition, a supporting type monster with no attack power is added.
在選擇召喚師之後,便要選擇最多六張怪物咭去組成隊伍。而每次可選擇的怪物咭的類型和數量,則按該場比賽能夠使用的召喚數值限額(Mana Cap.) ,比賽的召喚數值限額從最低的11起,到最高的99為止。每張怪物咭均各有不同的召喚數值需求(Mana Cost),所以選擇怪物隊伍時需要衡量召喚數值、進攻策略以及怪物技能等各方面作出取捨。怪物咭依攻擊類型共分為三種,分別為近戰類型、遠距離攻擊類型、魔法攻擊類型。另外加上一種沒有攻擊力的支援類怪物。
Mana Cost / 召喚數值需求
The more powerful the card, the higher the Mana Cost. This cost will influence how you create teams.
卡牌越強大,召喚數值需求越高。此成本將影響您創建團隊的方式。
Rarity / 稀有度
The icon represents Splinter and the color indicates Rarity (Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary).
圖標代表屬性(火、水、土、光、暗和龍),顏色代表稀有度(普通(白)、稀有(藍)、史詩(紫)或傳奇(黃))。
Level / 等級
A higher level translates to a more powerful card. Gaining levels may increase STATS or unlock abilities.

Abilities / 技能
These are special skills or powers that are used during combat.
這些是在戰鬥中使用的特殊技能或力量。
Melee Attack / 近距攻擊
This means you’re slashing at the enemy up close. Under normal circumstances, the attacker must be in the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy Armor before health is affected. Chance to miss.

The character attacks from a distance. Unable to attack from the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy Armor before health is affected. Chance to miss.

Magic Attack / 魔法攻擊
Characters with magic attack may do damage from any row. Not only that, this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). There is no miss chance. It always hits.

Speed / 速度
Speed determines the order in which characters attack. It also makes the character harder to hit with Melee or Ranged attacks.

Armor / 裝甲
Enemy combatants must first deplete a character’s Armor before any damage can be applied to the defender’s health. If an attacker destroy’s a defender’s Armor, any extra damage from the attack is lost.

Health / 生命值
This one is pretty straightforward. Once a character’s health hits zero, it dies.

After a brief introduction to the card types in Splinterlands, the main course of this beginner guild series will be delivered: card skill guide and battle explanation. In each beginner guild, I will briefly introduce the special skills of monster cards, and attach a battle as an example to understand how to use the skills.

Ability Introduction / 技能介紹:
Void / 空盾:
Reduced damage from Magic attacks. Attack damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage
減少魔法攻擊造成的傷害。攻擊傷害減半(向上取整),攻擊力只有1的怪物無法給敵人造成傷害
Double Strike / 雙擊:
Monster attacks twice each round.
怪物每回合能攻擊兩次。
Resurrect / 復活:
When a friendly Monster dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle.
- If more than one monster on your team has this ability, multiple monsters can be resurrected
- Cannot resurrect self
當一個友方怪物死亡時,它會以 1 點生命值復活。 該技能每場戰鬥只能觸發一次。

Flying / 飛行:
Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
- +25% chance of evading.
- Cumulative with Dodge and Blind ability, to get up to + 65% chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks.
- Snare can remove Flying.
- Does not work against enemies that have Flying itself.
- It does not affect magic attacks.

Each battle is unique, so once you're matched with an opponent you will see a popup showing you the combat rules for that battle and other information for that battle only.

Available Mana Cost / 可用召喚值
It was a high Mana battle that can be use 52 manas.

Only Fire, Water, Earth and Death desk can be used in this battle.

Aim Ture / 準確命中
Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target

Keep your distance / 保持距離:
Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles

Considering card selection / 選卡考量
In this battle, we cannot select any melee monster and all range attack monster will not miss. So we must select the highest health monster we can because of these battle rule set. The magic attack monster with high health or range attack monster with Close Range ability and high health is needed at the front. And also need at least 2-3 of high health monster at second or third place.
Furthermore, based on the battle ruleset. Monster with high attacking power will be my first choose. So fire desk is not suitable in this battle because fire desk is lack of high health and high magic attack power monster can be used. Water, Earth and Death are suitable in this battle.

According to the battle history, my opponent likes to select Earth desk monsters. I guess he will select it again. How to against his team? Let’s see my team lineup.

Summoners / 召喚師 : Bortus (Level 3)
Due to my expectation. I selected Water desk summoner Bortus. It can deduct all enemy magic attack monsters with 1 magic power. Very good to against enemy’s Earth magic team.

First position / 第一順位 : Djinn Oshannus (Level 2)
After reduce the magic attack power of my enemy. Another important strategy is defense. Djinn Oshannus had high health with Void ability, it can reduce 1 magic damage. That’s mean no damage will be provided if enemy’s magic monster had only one magic attack power. Furthermore, a level 2 Djinn Oshannus had Phase ability, it can help Djinn Oshannus dodges the magic attack. Djinn Oshannus is my first Tank choose in my mind when I consider about this battle rule.

Second position / 第二順位: Nerissa Tridawn (Level 2)
A level 2 Nerissa Tridawn I am used. Its’ high health and high attacking power is important for the team. It is the second shield and the main attacker in my lineup.

Third position / 第三順位: Axemaster (Level 1)
Another main attacker, I need its’ double strike ability. It can provide 4 damage to my enemy each round.

Fourth position / 第四順位: Supply Runner (Level 1)
Supply Runner is good in speed even though it is at level 1. It had 2 range attack power is better than some of water magic attacker. With my expectation, Earth monster did not have armor. High damage attacker will be selected first when I consider my lineup. So I use Supply Runner instead of other magic attacker.

River Hellondale had Resurrect ability, this ability can bring back one of my team monster when this monster died. If unluckily, my Djinn Oshannus dies first, it can back with 1 health.

Last position / 最後順位: Sea Genie (Level 4)
A Lv4 Sea Genie is at the back. I think it’s 5 health is enough to protect my back line because there are not so many magic or range monsters with Sneak ability can be selected. 2 magic attacking power is good for use too.

Game Play / 戰鬥情況
In this battle. My opponent selected Earth desk with Obsidian be theirs Summoner same as my expectation. The effect of Obsidian was offset by my Bortus. Total damages from enemy in first round is 6 to Djinn Oshannus (2 magic damages be deducted) and 3 to Nerissa Tridawn because of Snipe and Blast abilities. No Sneak attack monster so I am no need to worry my back line.

- At start, after all summoners/monster abilities added. My strategy is work before battle start same as I said at above. My team can provide 15 damages at first round to their front line. We will destroy the Mycelic Slipspawn before round 1 and damage the Regal Peryton. After the Mycelic Slipspawn dead, we were destroyed their defence.

- Before round 2, although the Regal Perton had healed by Goblin Psychic, but it was not enough. Under the high attack power of my team, enemy ‘s monster be destroyed one by one. My enemy cannot break my defense from start to finish.

- Finally, I win this battle.

Conclusion:
I think my enemy is lack of magic/range attack Tank can be choose in his Earth desk. Only the Mycelic Slipspawn is not enough. If he had Kron The Undying and place it at first, I will be trouble. Heal ability monster at front, Taunt ability monster at second and place a Tank Heal ability in the lineup with them is hard to break through.
