Introduction
Well I'm happy that guild power is finally released. I can finally use my guild points from the burning event to upgrade my guild buildings. I also want to share my thoughts on a proposal that Yabapmatt posted yesterday about pricing Riftwatchers packs in DEC.
Using My Guild Power and Future Plans
So yesterday after the maintenance, guild power was enabled and useable to upgrade buildings. I had over 1.2M guild points to use and I already instantly spent 500k guild points on upgrading the Town Hall to level 7 and the Store To level 6 for my guild. You can verify with the screenshots I shared below.
I have to wait to spend the crowns to upgrade the store to level 6 because it's already in the preparation phase for brawl so you can't upgrade the buildings that need crowns. I hope they fix this because the fight didn't actually start yet so they should actually let us still upgrade our buildings during this 48 hour period otherwise the only time we can actually upgrade the level of non town hall/ lodge buildings are during the results phase which most of the time is a 24 hour window.
I still have around 716k guild power to use which I'm still saving to see what to upgrade next. I'm torn between upgrading the hall again or the barracks when the guild gets enough crowns for that. Then there's also the case of the new guild buildings that will be released after the Age of The Phoenix which might be great too so I could wait for that as well. I will just leave it like this for now until I figure out what's the plan for my guild but I don't think we will be going to tier 4 any time soon as my guildmates don't have the collection to compete in tier 4.
Proposal To Price Riftwatcher Packs In DEC
So yesterday Yabapmatt burned 100k DEC and gave us a sweet proposal to price Riftwatchers packs in DEC. His justification for this was to give value to DEC which in return would give value to SPS once we need to burn SPS to get DEC. He also mentioned about how SPS price is volatile and it's not really ideal to price products with this kind of volatility. It's also clear that Riftwatcher packs aren't being sold. After the pre-sale, the sales for these packs have been pretty stagnant.
My thoughts on this
I totally agree with Yabapmatt that we should have Riftwatcher Packs priced in DEC. I'm ok with the amount being 5k DEC per pack. I saw some comments that they think the price of the DEC should always be at $5 dollars but I think that won't really change anything. There needs to be some arbitrage opportunity then we can see people are willing to buy up dec to buy RW packs at a discount basically like how they did with Chaos Legion packs.
Honestly, it's a bit of a mind game because we could swap our SPS to DEC to buy it and it would be the "same thing" well whoever said this has a valid point as well. I think it's mainly because many people have high hopes for the future value of SPS that it would be kind of painful to make that purchase in SPS. Imaging spending 10k+ SPS for 100 RW packs. Then you already have this thought in your head that SPS will be for example 50 cents. Well then this is like 5000 dollars being spend on RW packs so it hurts in our mind. Having it priced in DEC will be better to have a peace for mind for most people in my opinon.
Furthermore, if the company can buy the DEC needed and allow credits to be purchased for RW packs I think it would help the sales as well. All this money will go to the DAO anyways so is this really bad for the community? It just may hurt some people that bought during the presale as it will hurt the prices. BUT THIS PAIN WILL BE SHORT TERM. I think in the long-run if you believe in the future of Splinterlands these cards will hold their value and probably appreciate in value.
Concluding Thoughts
Guild power is awesome! I'm happy that I can use it already and already upgraded my guild buildings. As for the proposal, I am all for it. Let's not look at Splinterlands for the short-term. We need to do what's good for the longevity and I think Yabapmatt gave great reasons to pass this proposal. I genuinely think Yabapmatt has good intentions for this game and anybody can see that even with his production point proposal. You might be against this proposal but let's believe in Yabapmatt who is trying to create the best sustainable play to earn card game for us to all enjoy for now and hopefully our lifetime! This game could be ever lasting like Yu-gi-oh. Just be happy that you're here today and let's enjoy the ride!
