Introduction
Hi everybody,
My name is and I'm here to share my challenge blog post for the Share Your Battle Challenge. The theme featured this week is Grund. I will explain when I feel it's best to use this card as well as share a battle and my thoughts.
When To Use Grund
I feel Grund is best used in mid-high to high mana battle caps. I say this because it's not really mana efficient and gets hard countered by Mycelic Infantry in the mirror matchups. It can be super good in rulesets like aim true where you can't miss an attack and situations like the battle I'm about to share where it's high mana and water and dragon aren't available. Personally, I feel this card isn't too great in gold and max level league. It's much better in bronze and silver league. This is based on my experience trying to use this card.
The Battle
I played this battle on my scholar account, bltzr-wizard-727. The battle link can be found here. This battle is in gold modern league. The ruleset for this battle was silenced summoners and broken arrows with a 99 mana cap. The water, life and dragon element were not usable.
Because of silenced summoners cards that have good abilities and high base stats are the best to choose from. This is why I chose to play the earth element over the fire and death element!
Discussing My Lineup
First Position, Grund - I chose Grund to be the front line tank since it has good damage and good health. Since there's a 99 mana cap there's no harm in placing it at the front as there's plenty of mana to use.
Second Position, Magi Of Chaos - I chose Magi Of Chaos as the second spot as the third. It's main purpose was to do damage as well as be an off tank after Grund and Mycelic Slipspawn died since it had the best health among the other backline monsters.
*Third Position, Queen Mycelia - I chose Queen Mycelia as the third spot. It's main purpose was to give utility to the team by giving whole team armor. This is a super strong ability that makes up for not fully utilizing the mana cap.
Fourth Position, Goblin Psychic - I chose Goblin Psychic as support. It brings silence which is super good at debuff enemy magic teams and affliction to counter any enemy healing. Goblin can also heal my frontline and keep it alive longer. Goblin Psychic is pretty standard in mid to high mana battles using the earth element.
Fifth Position, Runi - The main purpose for Runi was to pick off any low enemy health creatures. I was also afraid that the opponent might play Yodin so the blast shield with the taunt an block the blast damage if they did choose Yodin somehow.
Final Position, Mycelic Slipspawn - The purpose of Mycelic Slipspawn at the back was to taunt and tank any magic range and sneak damage away from Grund as Grund is not as tanky compared to Mycelic Infantry which can cut melee and ranged damage in half.
Did My Strategy Work? & Would I try differently next time?
Yes, my strategy worked. The opponent played a similar line up as me. The only difference is the Sand Worm and Runi. Their Sand Worm made them lose because Mycelic Slipspawn has forcefield which reduces damage 5 or greater to 1 damage. I believe this made the difference in the fight which led me to victory. Although this was the key difference, I believe my lineup for this battle was pretty solid. It probably had the highest chance of winning based on the cards I owned and sometimes that's all you have to do. Just play the best lineup you can put up with the highest win chance that you have to win more games. This was a pretty solid lineup in my opinion and I don't think I would change it unless I had a Kron the Undying then maybe I would put that in for the Magi Of Chaos.
Do I Like Grund? Why Or Why Not?
To answer this, I'm not a huge fan of Grund. He's not used that much from my experience. He's not that great as Unicorn Mustang and Mycelic Infantry are better front line tanks in almost every other situation then the battle I shared. I do own him on my account just to collect it but I just don't think it has a big place in the meta right now. It's too niche for my taste.
