Dragons are fantastic creatures and with the arrival of Riftwatchers a powerful new dragon has emerged to be used in your Splinterlands battles. Agor Longtail is the name of the card and in this post I will talk more about this powerful option.
Who is Agor Longtail?
Agor Longtail is a card that recently arrived in Splinterlands, it is from the Riftwatchers edition and belongs to the dragon deck, its mana cost is quite high and it has 2 types of attacks that are melee and magic, its rarity is legendary and the your LORE I'll leave it at the end of the post in case you're curious to read it.
How to get Agor Longtail?
To get Agor Longatail you have 3 options which are: buy on Marketplace, rent on Marketplace or buy Riftwatchers Packs and try your luck. As Agor Longtail is a legendary card so the chances of getting him are not high, so choosing to open packs to get him may not be the best option, but as his price is currently very high then you would have a chance to open 6 or 7 Riftwatchers packs at their current price on the Marketplace.
To find him in the Marketplace you just need to filter by Edition: Riftwatcher / Rarity: Legendary / Element: Dragon / Role: Monster.
The price to buy Agor Longtail is currently $24.49/BCX and to rent it is 0.82 DEC level 1, the price is very variable for purchase and rent because it is a recent edition and there are few cards available so the demand for them is well high, especially very useful cards like the Agor Longtail.
If you want to try your luck you can buy Riftwatchers packs by going to Shop and then Gems, each pack costs 5$ in SPS + 1 Voucher, you can get bonus packs if you buy in high quantities like 100, 500 and 1000+. Another option is to go to the Hive Engine and buy the pack there where the price is usually lower but you the packs bought there will not be eligible for the edition airdrops.
How does Agor Longtail work in battles?
To understand how Agor Longtail works in battles, we first need to look at its stats and abilities, to find them you just need to follow the steps I mentioned before filtering in the Marketplace and clicking on the card, then you just need to go to Stats and you will get all information about the Agor Longtail card.
The image above shows the general stats of the card and its abilities which are Flying, Taunt, Void Armor and Heal, I will talk more about its abilities soon but first let's take a look at the usefulness of the cards without them.
As I mentioned before Agor Longtail has 2 types of attacks which are melee and magic, its mana cost is 15 and that makes it the highest mana card in Splinterlands and that gives it a big disadvantage in battles with little mana available since you will have to spend a lot of mana to have him in battle. In terms of damage it is excellent because having 2 types of attack gives the advantage of having less obstacles when attacking, for example if the card has the ability Shield which reduces the damage of melee and ranged attacks then it will only affect half of the Agor Longtail's attack as he has melee and magic attack.
Its abilities as mentioned before are Flying, Taunt, Void Armor and Heal. To understand better about them I will make a brief explanation of them.
The Flying ability increases Agor Longtail's chance to dodge +25% melee and ranged attacks from cards that don't have the Flying ability. If you've ever battled against cards that have this ability then you should already know how incredibly useful it is and makes the card dodge a lot of attacks, Agor Longtail's speed isn't very high but it still has a good chance to dodge.
The Taunt ability makes the card that owns it the target of all opposing cards and that means Agor Longtail will take damage from all opposing cards until it is defeated, but with the help of Flying and Heal this won't be a big problem and he will be a great defense for your battles.
The Void Armor ability makes Agor Longtail's shield useful against magic attacks because this type of attack ignores the shield of cards and directly attacks their health, but with this ability this type of attack will deal damage first to the shield and not in the life of Agor Longatil.
The Heal ability will cause Agor Longtail to restore 1/3 of its maximum health per round. As Agor Longtail's health is quite high so it will restore a good amount of health and for a card that will be the main target of opponent's attacks, having this ability will be of great help because it will help it to survive in battles longer.
They are great stats and abilities, now I will explain my opinion about the advantages and disadvantages of the Agor Longtail card.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Benefits
The advantages are that Agor Longtil is an extremely powerful card. a in attack and that will be very difficult to defeat because it has a lot of health and shield, in addition to abilities like Flying and Heal that will help it survive longer in battle, besides it belongs to the dragon deck so it can be combined with cards from another deck and that gives you a wide variety of strategies to use with it, lastly the Taunt ability would be a "downside" but as it is a great defense and won't be defeated so easily it makes your other cards safe while Agor Longtail is in battle.
Disadvantages
The main disadvantage of the Agor Longtail is its mana cost which is quite high so in battles with little mana available it will not be easy to use it, but this will depend mainly on your strategy for the battle. His other downside is that his speed is low and this affects your chances to dodge and also the moment to attack as he probably won't be one of the first cards to attack.
In my opinion, it's an excellent card and despite its "high" price, I currently believe it's a good card to have in your collection, remembering that it's just my opinion and not an investment tip.
LORE
The mountains of Dragon’s Roost reach high into the sky, their peaks tearing at the bellies of passing clouds. Many species of dragon have made their homes here among the crags and ledges. They live in relative harmony, away from the nuisance of the two-legged creatures that populate most of Draykh-Nahka. There is one that is different, though. She makes her home deep within the subterranean halls of the mountain range. Other dragons avoid her, and few will speak her name. The dragonborn know her well, though, and have worshiped her for as long as they can remember.
She is Agor Longtail, one of the largest red dragons ever to have lived.
Twice each year, on the equinox, a host of dragonborn visit the lair of Agor to pay homage to her. They bring tributes, and Agor offers wisdom—a small fraction of her eternal knowledge. On the summer solstice, she leaves the comfort of her mountainous lair and takes to the skies, raining death upon any who have dared to wrong her disciples. On the winter solstice, she visits the Suam, leader of the naga and the Gloridax, to offer counsel regarding governance, economics, the military, and other matters of state. There is no mistaking, however, that Agor could destroy the Grand Consul of the Gloridax with one flaming breath if she so chose.
After the Chaos Legion’s invasion, most dragonborn gave up their pilgrimage to Agor, and those who attempted it were killed. At first, Agor thought they had forsaken her, and the great dragon fell into a dark brooding. She became angry with herself for letting these simple mortals affect her. She was a dragon, and they were insects—insignificant snippets of life that meant nothing.
But every living thing needs adoration, and Agor was no different. Eventually, curiosity got the better of her. She ventured out to discover what had become of her disciples. It was then she saw the devastation wrought by the legions of chaos. Her fury sparked a rage so great that the roar of Agor Longtail nearly split the heavens asunder.
