As many of you have already seen and perhaps some just now finding out, Splinterlands is undergoing maintenance right when the season is about to change.

The switch to the new season is now being pushed back 24 hours to August 16th, at 4 PM ET / 8 PM UTC(11am CST for those of us in the states).
We have a couple of messages from the Splinterlands founds from their official Discord.
From founder Yabapmatt,
We want to once again sincerely apologize for the issues with the game today. As we are continuing to grow at a record pace, additional issues continue to arise which we have been constantly working to resolve as quickly as possible.
At the moment, we are in the process of updating to larger back-end servers to resolve the current issues and we expect the game to be down for a number of hours while we complete this process.
As a result, we will also be pushing back the end of the current ranked play season 24 hours until tomorrow, August 16th, at 4 PM ET / 8 PM UTC.
We know that is very inconvenient and frustrating for players and we are doing our best to work through all of the current issues and also focus on additional optimizations to ensure we can easily scale up significantly larger in the future.
Shortly after founder Aggroed adds,
To put this growth in context. Even with the massive expansion we've already had we are set to double the number of spellbook owning players in the next 20 days. The pace is insane and we're doing our best to work through it.
That is a huge influx of new players! This is a great problem to have, especially, for those of you that have already been in the game for some time. This is a welcome boost to the SL ecomony. Card purchases and rentals may go up, but so will the price of DEC and SPS(so we hope 😉)
Speaking of rentals? What happens to the rental that we due to end after the season end to carry people with power to the next rank? I really hope this does not mess that up for so many, yours truly included.
Here's to hoping for a smooth transition!
