According to Euro Hoops:
Hapoel informed Basketball Champions League which will open the disciplinary procedure regarding the incident. The Israeli club also released a statement:And someone from Greece has written this on Reddit:“We’ve notified the BCL and there is no place for these types of acts at a sport arena. We are working with FIBA authorities on this matter. We want to acknowledge the 400 fans who accompanied the team to the game.”
I am from Greece. Today there was an incident where AEK's fans (Greek club on basketball) burned Israel's flag. Well I wanna tell to all of you that I am so sorry. We are aware of the growth of antisemitism in Greece and all Europe, but don't judge my people because of them, we are not all the same. Many young people especially comment against these idiots in public. Apologies and peace to all of you!I can't help but find this ironic, given we have almost arrived at Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, in which we celebrate the rededication of the Holy Temple after we defeated the Greeks (and one vial of oil lasted long enough to light the Temple's Menorah for 8 days).
