This year I promised to do more for the world, especially where peace is concerned. There are multiple conflicts going on, and they make me worry about the future of this planet. It seems to strange that humans are still fighting, after all this time, after everything we have learned. I live far away from any conflict here in Argentina. But, as a citizen of both North and South America, I feel a certain amount of responsibility to promote peace.
As a person born in the United States I feel a certain weight and shame for what is going on in Venezuela, and in many other parts of the world due to the government's decisions. At a distance there really isn't much I can do, physically.
Luckily prayer and spells do work at a distance!
This is the altar I made for world peace. It is simple but balanced. It is made up of key ingredients, each with their own spiritual significance. To start the spell off I gathered a bouquet from the garden. Wildflowers at the center with yarrow all around. The yarrow is a protective herb. The wildflowers simply called out to me, they represent the knowledge native to this land. I wrapped them both in green twine (the earth's color).
Then, I sprinkled white and pink roses which are full of calming, feminine energy. Then I set a jar of dried poppy seed heads, which are protective of children. They also represent a gateway to the dream realm and opening up to visions of a peaceful future. All these ingredients together represented a spell I am trying to cast: that the united state's government backs away peacefully and that the Venezuelan people can do what they decide to do with their own country.
That last bit is the most important ingredient to any spell. I need a clear intention to direct my energy, my prayers ... my magic.
Every night I light a candle for this vision
of peace in America, North and South.
