Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well. This is my first post inside the cervantes community, which I've been watching for a while and I really like the cozy vibe that you can feel here. So today I finally decided to upload my first post here. I really hope you like it and you can support me and encourage me to upload more content.
For this opportunity, I designed the poster of a fictitious event, since it was the project of a digital vector illustration course that I recently finished in Platzi. For those who don't know, Platzi is a Latin American platform for effective online education, where you can access more than 700 courses in different areas of study such as: Engineering and development, design and UX, English, marketing, entrepreneurship and business, audiovisual production and more!

Para mi proyecto, me decidí por diseñar el poster de la banda “Linkin ParK” ya que es mi favorita, así que a continuación les enseñare el proceso de creación y diseño del poster.
For my project, I decided to design the poster of the band "Linkin Park" since it is my favorite band, so here I will show you the process of creating and designing the poster.

Luego de una investigación en busca de referencias y definiendo el concepto y la estética del poster, realice varios bocetos para al final decidirme por este, el cual usaría como modelo. Así que lo importe a illustrator (ya que es una ilustración con vectores) para ponerme manos la obra.
After a research in search of references and defining the concept and aesthetics of the poster, I made several sketches to finally decide on this one, which I would use as a model. So I imported it to illustrator (since it is a vector illustration) to get down to work.
Luego, posicione cada uno de los elementos para tener una visión más clara de lo que quería plasmar, para luego empezar a vectorizar.
Then, position each of the elements to have a clearer view of what I wanted to capture, and then start vectorizing.
Hecho esto, empecé a vectorizar al primer personaje, Shinoda. Como estoy ilustrando con vectores, se busca plasmar los elementos más resaltantes del personaje (A veces menos es más).
Empezando por el rostro y finalizando con el cuerpo
That done, I started vectorizing the first character, Shinoda. Since I'm illustrating with vectors, the aim is to capture the most prominent elements of the character (Sometimes less is more).
Starting with the face and ending with the body.
Y lo mismo con los demás personajes
And the same with the other characters
Luego vectorice el logo, esto fue sumamente fácil al estar conformado por líneas rectas.
Then I vectorized the logo, this was very easy as it was made up of straight lines.
Y luego la mano de Chester. Chester Bennintong era el vocalista de la banda, pero en 2017 se suicidó por depresión. Por eso, no lo ilustre como tal, para así representar su presencia de otra manera y que el poster fuera como un tributo hacia él.
And then Chester's hand. Chester Bennintong was the lead singer of the band, but in 2017 he committed suicide due to depression. Therefore, I did not illustrate him as such, so as to represent his presence in another way and that the poster would be as a tribute towards him.
Luego, realice las luces y sombras de los personajes, nuevamente enfocándome únicamente en los detalles más resaltantes. Como algunas sombras en el rostro para darle volumen, en los brazos e ilustrando los pliegos de la ropa.
Then, I made the lights and shadows of the characters, again focusing only on the most outstanding details. Like some shadows on the face to give it volume, on the arms and illustrating the folds of the clothes.
En el caso de este (Dave) Como verán, cambie el diseño, ya que el otro no me terminaba de convencer, se veía torpe y al final no me gusto y por eso lo sustituí por este.
In the case of this one (Dave) As you will see, I changed the design, since the other one did not convince me, it looked clumsy and in the end I did not like it and that is why I replaced it with this one..
Por supuesto, también añadí las respectivas sombras a la mano de Chester.
Of course, I also added the respective shadows to Chester's hand.
Luego diseñe un par de flamas, para que diera un efecto de que de allí provenían cada uno de los miembros de la banda y no estuvieran simplemente flotando en el aire.
Then I designed a couple of flames, to give the effect that each of the band members were coming from there and were not just floating in the air.
Ya con prácticamente todos los elementos definidos, era hora de definir una paleta de color. Esto ya más o menos lo había pensado, analizando la estética de la banda donde resaltaban los azules fríos, pero al mismo tiempo una especie de transición de colores de fríos a cálidos, así que eso mismo quería representar.
Empecé por el fondo, pero sinceramente no me convencía lo que tenía en mente (usar degradado de azules fríos) y tal parece que (al menos en ese momento) se veía mejor de negro, así que por los momentos decidí dejarlo así. Aparte, pinte las flamas de un azul celeste y en el proceso iba añadiendo un par de detalles.

With practically all the elements defined, it was time to define a color palette. This I had already more or less thought about, analyzing the aesthetics of the band where cold blues stood out, but at the same time a kind of transition of colors from cold to warm, so that's what I wanted to represent. I started with the background, but honestly I wasn't convinced by what I had in mind (using cold blue gradient) and it seems that (at least at that moment) it looked better in black, so for the moment I decided to leave it like that. Aside from that, I painted the flames a light blue and in the process was adding a couple of details.
Luego, pinte tres de los cinco personajes usando paletas de colores y combinaciones diferentes. Al final me gusto como se veía el amarillo en la piel y la combine con las otras dos paletas de los otros dos personajes.
Then, I painted three of the five characters using different color palettes and combinations. In the end I liked how the yellow looked on the skin and combined it with the other two palettes of the other two characters.
Hice un par de degradados en las sombras para generar más volumen.
I made a couple of gradients in the shadows to generate more volume.
Rediseñe también las llamas, añadiendo un par más para que el efecto de que los personajes provenían de allí, se entendiera mucho mejor. Luego probé un par de efectos de opacidad en las mismas y ver cual me gustaba más.
I also redesigned the flames, adding a couple more so that the effect of the characters coming from there was much better understood. Then I tried a couple of opacity effects on them and see which one I liked better.
Algo que olvide mostrar fue proceso del diseño de los tatuajes de las llamas de la mano de Chester, sin embargo pueden apreciarlo terminado.
Something I forgot to show was Chester's hand flames tattoos design process, however you can appreciate it completed.

Ubiqué un poco mejor cada elemento para que se viera mejor, mejore el efecto de luz en los dedos de la mano de Chester y para el fondo me decidí por un azul bien oscuro. Con eso listo, empecé a añadir el resto de la tipografía.
I placed a little better each element to make it look better, I improved the light effect on the fingers of Chester's hand and for the background I decided for a dark blue. With that done, I started to add the rest of the typography.
Y para finalizar, Cree un poco de jerarquía entre los textos cambiándoles el color y además de ello, agregue un par de marcas aleatorias y como no, el isologo de platzi quien fue gracias a su curso que aprendí a hacer este poster. Ahora si puedo dar por finalizado mi poster ficticio de Linkin Park en honor a Chester Bennington.
And finally, I created a little hierarchy between the texts by changing the color and also added a couple of random marks and of course, the isologo of platzi who was thanks to his course that I learned to make this poster. Now if I can give for finalized my fictional poster of Linkin Park in honor of Chester Bennington.
