Cuando indagamos en la historia del Arte Venezolano, en las primeras dos décadas del siglo XX siempre nos vamos a topar con uno de los principales y más influyentes movimiento artístico y literario del país "El Círculo de Bellas Artes". Recuerdo cuando estaba estudiando en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas Armando Reveron, se le hacía mucha mención al movimiento por la participación de extraordinarios pintores y poetas, destacando el mismo Armando Reverón, Manuel Cabré, Marcos Castillo, Pedro Ángel Gonzales, entre otros. Expresados en ellos la fuerte influencia de aquella tendencia impresionista que había en aquellas décadas, El circulo de bellas artes aglutinó ideas y teorías muy complejas para el desarrollo del arte y la educación para las artes, que cimentaron el conocimiento que nuestras instituciones artísticas y educativas actualmente promueven. Pero no me quiero adentrar en lo que fue el Circulo de Bellas Artes en Venezuela, quiero hablarles de un pintor que también participo en él, pero hay que escudriñar un poco para conocer su pintura y aportes al arte venezolano.

Pedro Zerpa Destacó en su pintura de Paisajes, un extraordinario dibujante y es lo propio al ser discípulo de Emilio Mauri, Pues el tutor y la academia fueron exigentes con el dominio del dibujo, y ha de ser un carácter importante en su vida artística, porque ese forjamiento lo llevó a realizar extraordinarias composiciones de paisajes y escenas cotidianas, y la versatilidad de pintar retratos y otro tipo de temáticas el cual pudo expresarse con total confianza de sus cualidades artísticas.

Uno de mis maestros, siendo pintor paisajista y caraqueño, su nombre es Jorge Ignacio Medina, siempre nos daba acceso a libros y catálogos de arte que no podíamos encontrar en la región, y siempre era muy emocionante porque ampliaba nuestra imaginería, en uno de los encuentros recuerdo que llevo al taller un catálogo del pintor Pedro Zerpa, debo disculparme con ustedes porque en aquel momento no le preste atención a las referencias editoriales, pero creo que fue un homenaje que hicieron en caracas, tampoco se en que galería, yo estaba atraído por las imágenes que veía, pues estaba acostumbrado a ver una paleta distinta, y lo que me agradó más fue la manera de sintetizar el paisaje natural, pero haciéndolo tan expresivo y complejo.

Recuerdo que Su pintura fue inspiración para mis inicios y realicé algunas obras tomando de referencia al pintor de Guárico las siguientes imágenes son dos de ellas.
