I'm loving learning about or reminiscing about the running backs of the franchise's past!
Today old number 26 for the Oilers, Rob Carpenter, is up next.
Rob Carpenter enjoyed a nice eleven season career in the NFL from 1977-1986. A very interesting era of NFL football for sure. He split his time as a pro pretty evenly between the Oilers and the Giants.
I find Rob's career to be fairly interesting. He was drafted in 1977 by the Oilers as a running back and was a solid player, used primarily a second option. With the Oilers, Carpenter played in 57 games and had over 2,600 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns. A few games into the season in 1981, Carpenter was traded to the Giants.
Carpenter switched to fullback with the Giants, and played less games while there than he did with the Oilers but was ultimately more productive for the G-Men. In New York Carpenter played in 55 games, starting 51. He had over 3,400 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns in the Big Apple.
The aging Carpenter had his best seasons later in his career. Pretty impressive career indeed. He retired after the 1986 season with 215 receptions.
Titans vs Niners Online Game - Madden 23
I face the Niners just as much as the Cowboys in Madden! Hopefully one day there's tons of Titans users playing.
