Ronnie Coleman played running back solely for the Houston Oilers from 1974-1981. He played college football at Alabama A&M.
I was unaware of Coleman prior to writing this. Running back is an all-time favorite position of mine so I am glad to learn and share something about him.
Coleman did not have the greatest running back career ever, but there's a lot of players that I'm sure wish they could have achieved some of the things Coleman has as a pro.
Coleman's best seasons came in 1975-1977. In those seasons Coleman played in 41 games, making 38 starts. Keep in mind that seasons were 14 games back then. On average, Coleman put up 875 yards from scrimmage and 5.3 total touchdowns in those three seasons. Coleman was doing some work in the mid 70's.
Coleman's usage went down following those three seasons but he would stick around for four more seasons and was used here and there before retiring after the 1981 season.
Over his whole career, Coleman played in 113 games, with 44 starts. He finished with 4,008 yards from scrimmage, exactly 150 receptions, and 22 total touchdowns.
What an awesome video. Coleman ran really strong and physical. Based on his card, I thought he'd be more of a burner. Man, what a clean interesting video from a time I was not alive for. No sound at all. Interesting. As I write these and learn more of the history, I do enjoy these older highlights more and more.
