In the third round of this year's draft the Titans select a running back fairly high in Tulane's Tyjae Spears.
I wonder what Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry must be thinking.
Honestly though besides Derrick, the Titans have not been too great at finding a high level RB2 of any kind. I guess it's easier said than done, and Derrick gets a lot of carries so opportunities for said RB2 are limited, but still. Maybe with Ran at the GM position, he will have better luck. Ran himself is a former RB.
I don't mind the pick at all, I expected a receiver honestly, but Derrick is aging so it's not bad to add another RB in the mix in an attempt to keep talent at the position and ensure a strength hopefully.
Tyjae is a good sized running back at 5-10, 200 pounds. Tyjae's top speed is not like jaw dropping but it's good. Tyjae's main gift as a running back is just explosiveness, patience and vision. He is excellent in those departments. It's a treat to watch him find invisible lanes and slide abruptly into open space. Reminds me a bit of a smaller quicker Le'Veon Bell. Prime Le'Veon Bell was an absolute problem.
There is a pretty insane red flag with Spears honestly and that is the fact that Spears has torn his ACL THREE TIMES. But he did play a full fourteen game season in 2022 and carried the ball 229 times.
Tyjae's 2022 senior season was his best. He carried the ball 229 times in 2022 and had an insane 6.9 yards per carry that totaled 1,581 rushing yards. He also found the endzone twenty-one times, nineteen rushing and two receiving.
I personally love running backs so I do hope the dude is nice. I just hope his knee holds up. Maybe Tyjae and Derrick can be an insane tandem or something.
Seems like a good dude. He says he's going out and buying Titans jerseys to rep the team. Kinda random but definitely cool.

Love the celebration!!!!
