I know that according to my handy dandy HiveBloPoMo calendar, today's suggested topic is talking about your favorite book for Book Lover's Day. But as I've been wicked busy with my curation duties, as well as finishing up all the Hive Power Up Day stuff (not to mention being busy with the family offline), I'm going to switch things up today and do next week's "Share Five Feline Fotos" one instead.
I thought it would be a good opportunity to "introduce" everyone to Pumpkin, seeing as I mentioned we'd adopted him back in June... 😄
The story behind the adoption is that when my mother was about to go in for surgery, and we knew she'd be on blood thinners for a while afterwards, we'd all talked about it and decided we should have Pumpkin stay with us for at least a few weeks, as he was very... aggressively loving towards mom.
There was the very real (and statistically high) possibility she wasn't going to make it through the procedure, so even before the day came to bring him to our house, she decided that it should be permanent, assuming he got along with our dog Sandy (who had been her dog until she ended up in the hospital back in 2015) and our cat Freddie.
In a much shorter time than we expected, Pumpkin and Freddie became friends - I think it helped that they're both (as far as we can tell, given they're both rescues) about the same age. Which is about 3 years old, give or take.

1. This is Pumpkin, doing what we call his Falkor pose. While the lighting makes it hard to tell, he is actually almost completely bright white, save a bit of orange on the top of his head.

Â
2. My mother said he had a patch of pumpkin on his head, so that's what she went with for his name. He actually started off being my late aunt's cat (she got him from a local shelter), but he was so full of energy that she had a hard time with him, so my mom adopted him from her.

3. Something Pumpkin and Freddie have in common is that if we put anything on our bed, like a freshly folded pair of jeans, they decide it's now their personal property and treat it accordingly.
Â
Â
4. Not sure you can tell from this shot of them lounging on our couch, but Freddie is much bigger than Pumpkin. However when they're wrestling around, at least half the time Pumpkin tackles Freddie and knocks him to the ground.

Â
5. Not one of my favorite poses, but I thought this one was great for showing the pumpkin patch on Pumpkin's head, as well as Freddie's polydactyl paws, looking like they've been dipped in cream.
Happy Caturday!
