Hanging in a hammock suspended by strings to a plastic bag flying in the sky, often many MANY thousands of feet over the ground, is the most incredible, scary, and hard to master sport I have ever been addicted to.
Most of you could care less but this is the most amazing thing for me as a paragliding pilot. This is the ULTIMATE hike and fly adventure race, far beyond most any other "adventure" race in the world, and for the first time in the race history the top 4 finished within 15 minutes of each other. AFTER 1300+ KMS OF HIKING AND FLYING ACROSS THE ALPS!!! The eagle Maurer who has won the last 8 races finally lost his title and in the process was not on the podium. I found myself shaking at times watching the video of the flights they had. Shaking in fear, abject desire, and in anticipation of the time I will be capable of flights as high and as far as them.
Aaron Durogati fully deserves to win the race after 6 times of trying. It is about time someone, 3 people, dethroned Maurer and his prior supporter got 2nd! Just an amazing race through the most incredible looking terrain. A place I would love to go fly in the next couple years.
