Nigeria is a country where growing up life has cheated you 1-0, and if you come from a poor background, not from a wealthy home, life has cheated you 2-0, a lot of people that live in Nigeria or have lived in Nigeria can testify that the country is doomed, where dreams are goal are only achieved if you are born wealthy. Nevertheless, we are not opportune or privileged to come from a wealthy home, but as a child, you will always have a dream that desired goal, the things you love doing, irrespective of the kind of home you come from.
I am Francis Dominic I was born in yobe state in Nigeria, the northern part of the country Nigeria, and grew up in Kaduna, growing up a lot of things fascinate me, but nothing fascinate me like watching the late Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. My love for basketball was amazing, I was so passionate about basketball, I will play from 3 o’clock to 7 pm every day, but they are no platform for me to start until I was 13 years old, due to the nature of my dad's jobs that we move frequently from one state to another when I finally started playing basketball and living the life I dreamt of, disaster struck, my dad died at the frontline in Maiduguri by Boko haram, then everything change, things wasn’t as easy as it is or has always been, then I started focusing on what will give me money, then what I loved doing, to assist family and myself in school, so I leave what I always wanted to do, what I desired the most, to help pay my bills in school, am currently in tertiary institution running my B.Engr. In marine engineering, forsaking what I always wanted, in this country, only a few people made it and achieved their childhood dream, are those that platform has laid for them, things will have gone as planned, if not for what happened to my dad in the northeast, that shift my attention from what I loved to what keep me going and paying the bill.
NBA is what I always wanted, I couldn’t make it because of my dad passing away, and my country doesn’t encourage sport as much as other developed countries.
