I don't want you all in my business, but this is the last thing I will say about the subject of discrimination, discrimination of any kind, and I want there to be an actual record of it.
Today I came to find out that a sister whom I have never met will only live if a miracle happens. How she got there is of little importance, she was just dealt the wrong cards I guess. She might die in the next couple of hours, so now it's only a matter of waiting for that miracle.
I don't know my sister, I don't know her voice and she doesn't know mine. I know her face, I looked her up, spoke to her mother and she showed me a picture, I tried to get closer... But the reason I don't know my sister is because I'm transsexual. I haven't spoken to my father in over a decade, his choice, he wouldn't even let me know what my sister's blood type is so I could try to get OTHERS to contribute by donating blood.
A 15-year-old daughter might die here soon because a father doesn't understand that loving a child is not the same as supporting their every action. And here soon a brother might be left to mourn the loss of a sister he never had.
I know that people are afraid and that is why they reject others, but at least as far as your immediate family goes, please make an effort to stay close even if you often disagree.
I don't think anyone is racist or homophobe or a transphobe or any of that stuff. I just see a bunch of people afraid for different reasons.
Some people are afraid their children will suffer, they don't understand their children only need their love and maybe some food.
Some people are afraid no one would want them if they knew the truth, so they hide, and some even go as far as hiding by pretending to hate when all they really hate is the idea of suffering.
Some people, many, have gone through hell and back to be able to adjust to "the way things are" and be successful, whatever that means... These people are afraid of change because they've had to change themselves so much to be productive in this world that they are afraid if the world were to become different they wouldn't be able to function in it.
Fear, fear, fear...Grow up!
Fear is natural, needed, it can protect us at times. But fear is only a reaction, find out what it is you're really reacting to and you'll be free of unnecessary fear.
