My reality

 My reality is the following: I'm not very friendly with social networks and I don't usually watch videos neither on youtube, nor on other platforms. However, I wanted to participate in this community, at least to be present in its beginning, and here I am.

 The idea of a first publication in this beautiful community caused me so much joy that, at first, I thought of a text of no less than 20,000 words. Then I meditated and sensibly said to myself: Let my joy not be the torture of others ... I will leave, therefore, only a few hundred words.

The day the “truth” met reality

 Occasionally, few, rare, very rare, we can see on television the true face of the “news”, of what they call "information". One of these moments happened on Spanish television on 08/13/2020. Live, unedited, uncensored.... Dr. Luis de Benito appeared.

 It was a hot day, a typical summer day in Spain, dry and bright. On the beaches of Portugal, without a mask, the “brain” of the fight against the “pandemic”, Mr. Simon, was relaxing, toasting his body under the sun.

 In Spain, while the beaches were full of relaxed Spaniards on vacation, the official journalism continued, perhaps to follow the inertia started at the beginning of 2020, announcing the end of the world. In their imagination, the hospitals were full of sick people, without a free bed, the health personnel overflowed, etc. But... For the more “serious” press, we were still in March 2020.

 However, there was general relaxation, the government was on vacation, I guess preparing for the return of the “pandemic”. This festive, relaxed atmosphere must have worried public television. So much so that a TV program called on an eminent doctor to testify to the “truth”, to the proximity of the end of the world.

 But what can happen when the “truth” does not coincide with “reality”? A scene that even Marcel Duchamp himself would not have imagined could happen.

 That August afternoon, all of us viewers witnessed one of the most surreal and comical moments ever seen on Spanish television. A type of situation that is only possible if a series of variables coincide at the same time:

•  That there are journalists whose job is to repeat data and slogans without knowing what they are talking about.

•  That one of these journalists, who puts on a knowledgeable face, although he does not know what he is talking about, believes that what he is disseminating is “the truth”.

•  That this journalist, who believes he is in possession of “the truth”, even though he has no idea what he is talking about, interviews the wrong guest.

•  That the wrong guest is an expert on the subject and, moreover, does not mind giving his opinion on the “end of the world” and denying the emergency situation, thus revealing the “delirium” of the journalist, in this case, the journalist.

 This coincidence of events was compounded by the fact that the journalist was so sure of the arrival of the “end of the world” that she did not even do her job: study the respondent.

 To summarize. In August 2020, a journalist who spreads junk data, the ones that fit with “the end of the world”, interviews an expert who contradicts the inevitability of this final destiny.

  I do not doubt that in other moments in the history of journalism, when it was proven that the “truth” did not coincide with reality, the journalist rectified, since his job is to inform.

 However, on this occasion, the disgruntled journalist, together with an entourage of talk show hosts, turned the interviewed expert into public enemy number one. The messenger had to be killed. In short, the program became an amusing spectacle, worth watching and savoring. One of the funniest moments of television in Spain.

 By the end of the program, Dr. Luis de Benito had become a famous character. His youtube channel grew like foam and he did not stop giving talks all over Spain.

 Nothing happened to the journalists who starred in such an embarrassing interview. They continued with their work of spreading “the truth” and with their philosophy:

Mi realidad

 Mi realidad es la siguiente: no soy muy amigo de las redes sociales y no suelo ver vídeos ni de youtube, ni de otras plataformas. Sin embargo, me apetecía participar en esta comunidad, al menos estar presente en sus inicio, y aquí estoy.

 La idea de una primera publicación en esta bonita comunidad me causó tanto alborozo que, en un principio, pensé en un texto de no menos de 20.000 palabras. Después, medité y me dije con sensatez: ¡Que mi alegría no sea la tortura de otros!- … Dejaré, por tanto, sólo unos cientos de palabras.

El día en el que la «verdad» se encontró con la realidad

 En ocasiones, pocas, raras, muy escasas, podemos ver en la televisión el verdadero rostro de la “noticia”, de lo que llaman "información". Uno de estos momentos ocurrió en la televisión española el día 13/08/2020. En directo, sin editar, sin censura…. Apareció el Dr. Luis de Benito

 Era un día caluroso, un típico día veraniego en España, seco y luminoso. Por las playas de Portugal, sin mascarilla, el “cerebro” de la lucha contra la “pandemia”, el señor Simón, se dedicaba a tostar su cuerpo serrano bajo el Sol.

 En España, mientras las playas se encontraban repletas de españoles serenos, de vacaciones, el periodismo oficial continuaba, quizás por seguir la inercia comenzada a principios de 2020, anunciando el fin del mundo.

 En su imaginario, los hospitales estaban repletos de personas enfermas, sin una cama libre, el personal sanitario desbordado, etc. Pero.... Para la prensa más “seria” continuábamos en marzo de 2020.

 El relajo era general, el gobierno estaba de vacaciones, supongo que preparando la vuelta de la “pandemia”. Este ambiente festivo, relajado, debió de preocupar a la televisión pública. De tal forma, que en un programa de televisión se convocó en directo a un eminente médico para que diera testimonio de la “verdad”, de la cercanía del fin del mundo.

 Pero, ¿Qué puede ocurrir cuando la “verdad” no coincide con la “realidad”? Puede ocurrir que se viva una escena que ni al mismísimo Marcel Duchamp hubiera podido imaginar.

 Esa tarde de agosto, todos los televidentes pudimos ser testigos de uno de los momento más surrealistas y cómicos vistos en la televisión española. Un tipo de situación, de las que sólo son posibles si coinciden al mismo tiempo una serie de variables:

• Que existan periodistas cuyo trabajo es repetir datos y consignas sin saber de lo que están hablando.

• Que uno de estos periodistas, que pone cara de entendido, aunque no sepa de lo que habla crea que lo que difunde es: “la verdad”.

• Que este periodista, que se cree en posesión de “la verdad”, aunque no tenga idea de lo que habla, entreviste al invitado equivocado.

• Que el invitado equivocado sea un experto en la materia y, además, no le importe opinar sobre el “fin del mundo” y negar la situación de urgencia, dejando en evidencia el “delirio” del periodista, en este caso, la periodista.

 A esta coincidencia de sucesos, se unió el hecho de que tan segura estaba la periodista de la llegada del “fin del mundo”, que ni siquiera cumplió con su trabajo: estudiar al entrevistado.

 Resumiendo. En agosto de 2020 una periodista que difunde datos basura, los que encajan con “el fin del mundo”, entrevista a un experto que contradice lo inevitable de este destino final.

 No dudo que en otros momentos pretéritos de la historia del periodismo, cuando se comprobaba que la “verdad” no coincidía con la realidad, el periodista rectificaba, ya que su labor es la de informar.

 Sin embargo, en esta ocasión, la contrariada la periodista, junto a un séquito de tertulianos, convirtieron al experto entrevistado en el enemigo público número uno. Había que matar al mensajero. En fin, el programa se convirtió en un divertido esperpento, digno de ver y saborear. Uno de los momentos más cómicos de la televisión en España.

 Al finalizar el programa, el Dr. Luis de Benito se había convertido en un personaje famoso. Su canal de youtube creció como la espuma y no dejó de dar charlas por todo el territorio español.

 A los periodistas que protagonizaron tan bochornosa entrevista no les ocurrió nada. Continuaron con su trabajo de difusión de “la verdad” y con su filosofía:
