I found it! This one is my favourite piece from Pit Bullion and while it’s not really a hand pour it’s a bit different from the rest of my stack in another important way. It’s a modern 1 Troy Ounce Morgan Dollar Silver Round which has been Gilded with 24K Gold. I picked it up in one of the old Monster Raffles that this awesome community organised almost exactly 5 years ago (to the day!) on the old STEEM platform. It was a piece that had donated for the raffle and I thought it was kind of unique so I snaffled it up as soon as one of my tickets came up a winner.
I may have this back to front but one side shows the American eagle with wings outstretched. The specifications of One Troy Ounce and .999 Fine Silver are clearly printed with the words In God we trust. This is the only Morgan Dollar that I own. The Morgan itself has a really important and interesting history even if this is a modern one but I like that it is in pristine condition. It does feel like holding a piece of history in the stack, which (along with being Gold Gilded) is probably why I had hidden it away with the “Good Stuff”.
The Obverse shows Lady Liberty with the Latin phrase "E pluribus unum" which is a traditional motto of the United States. It means "Out of many, one" and is a reference to the Thirteen Colonies united into one nation. There are 13 stars surrounding Lady Liberty - one for each Colony and she has the word LIBERTY inscribed into her crown. As a Libertarian with a growing appreciation of history, this piece speaks my language. I believe the history and philosophy of freedom it represents is just as important today maybe even more so in the context of recent world events. If you end up reading this – Thanks again brother. This one is a real keeper.
