As a volunteer providing an unpaid service to the community I reserve the right to block communications from individuals who are abusive toward me.

Personally I don't think that is unreasonable and, as you point out, in any other professional or civilized endeavor it would be unacceptable to be expected to tolerate being abused.

If this makes my position untenable then I will gladly step down.
