Most of us have heard of silver war nickels, but what I'm referring to is made of .999 silver. It's also 1.75 troy ounces and looks to be about one inch thick. It's nicknamed the "Thnickel."

Only 77 of these were made by a gentleman named Theodore "Nichols."

Aside from the hilarious 90s vibe of his website, these silver Thnickels cost a pretty penny. The last one went for $475 at auction. They're even serialized!

If I come across one I may just have to grab one. They quirky, unique and Theo seems like the kind of guy who'd be fun to sit down with at the bar, grab some drinks and just listen to him talk for a few hours.
Since the penny has been discontinued, he's now in the process of making a thick cent coin, or "Thent."

I may just have to pick one up.
