Yesterday we conducted our first mowing of the year. The yard didn't really need it yet, but the small amount of weeds sprouting up necessitated it.
Being that I am a weeble wobble these days, the wife is the work horse that mowed it. Luckily she enjoys mowing the yard. Yes, she enjoys it, even if it is push mowing.
Instead of her daily exercise routine, she replaces it with the push mowing and trimming of the yard. And she gets a heck of a workout because we have a rather decent size yard to push mow. We have a riding mower, but she prefers to push mow so she can get her workout.
I felt guilty about it, and wanted to do it, but she wasnt having any of it. I had just passed out again the day before and was still rather sore from the fall. So I checked the mower over for operation. Made sure there ws enough oil and gas and checked the air filter. All was good so she was clear to do her thing.
While she mowed, I did a quick look over of the yard. It is in dire straights from the winter. Grubs have left bare spots all over it. We are infested with them. When it rains, they come up out of the ground. I have paid a lawn company to come and treat for them. They will be here the end of May, when they are hatching, to treat the yard for them.
I also found some landscaping timber that needs fixed and a basement window shieled that needs replaced. These are things I may be able to do, but not sure. I may have a handyman friend come and assist me just in case.
While looking over the lawn care company;s flyer, we decided to go ahead and pay them to treat our lawn over the summer for weeds and to fertilize. We were worried if they are pet friedly, but they are, so we went with them and they will treat 6 times over the spring, summer, and fall.
I just know I need to get this wonkiness under control so I can get on the riding mnower and start taking care of the yard myself. The outside, other than flowers, has been my duty around the house. Not being able to do my duty is something that wears on me.
Anyway, we got the yard done just in time for big storms to come in this weekend. Supposedly have some possible supercells, so things might get interesting.
If we don't get blown away tonight or tomorrow, I do plan to post an interesting coin in the next couple of days from the old French-Indochina days.
Until then...
Thanks for reading,
Joe
