United States Constitutional, ninety-percent, Silver Money is only one nine pure Silver. The Mint added ten percent Copper alloy, that actually makes the coin more durable. Coin Money was designed for long lasting circulation. The final mintage numbers of the 1999 Yellowstone Buffalo Commemorative Silver (0.7734 Troy Ounce) Dollars, are BU 82,563 and Proof 187,595. Yes, the BUs are rarer than the Proofs. The same is true for all, 53, US Modern Commemorative Silver Dollars, except for the Robert F Kennedy Dollar, where the Proof is slightly rarer. This 1999 Yellowstone BU Coin is almost 90 times rarer than the 1999 BU American Silver Eagle Dollar. Mintage: 7,408,640 vs 82,563. Some Modern Commemorative Dollars are even rarer. And many are less expensive than their original US Mint prices.
