Today the Local Coin Shop had plenty of Silver. But, it was like going to the Ice Cream Parlor, with plenty of ice cream, all vanilla. Don't get me wrong, I love vanilla, but... Basically, Generics and, mostly, four nines pure. I did fine one scratch & dent American Silver Eagle, for only $29(USD).
Sometimes, there are some interesting & hard to find items, in this case. But not lately. I had to rely on the old faithful, 90%, US Constitutional Silver, junk box, today.
This old dateless, Standing Liberty Quarter-Dollar, is either a 1916(rare) or 1917. From 1918 on, there were three stars under the low flying Eagle. The wear & tear, of this Quarter-Dollar, is a testimony, to the job it did as real, valuable money. Actually, it is still working and storing value, today.
The 35%, Silver Five-Cents, “Nickels” are one of my favorites. They are one of the few Silver items, that the LCS, sells for under Silver spot price. I always pick out the overlooked, nicer condition ones. Today, their melt value is over $1.28 and the LCS, usually lets them go for $1, or lower, if one buys a bunch.
