Hi Stackers,
It has been a while posting something for #piratesunday the tag initiated by the famous tuber and occasional hiver . But I stumbled over an interesting tour in Australia that fits well within the tag!
In brief the company piratesgold.com.au offers short prospecting trips near Kalgoorlie a well known goldtown in the outback. You must know that in 2010 I took a three month sabbatical to tour Australia with my wife Marianne. We also stayed briefly in a minetown called Tom Price in Western Australian which mined iron ore. We fell in love with Australia but have not been back afterwards. The quiet West or busier East both have their jewels.
Wouldn't it be great to meet up in Perth instead of Las Vegas and do a prospecting camp for 5 days? There are well equipped caravan parks to choose from and gear can be hired. I notice they also do 4wd tours so a combi is possible or for the partners who do not give a shit about precious metals maybe....
I remember one in our community having a panning weekend in California but the Australian tour is more about finding nuggets with a detector. You must know that in the West there are hardly any rivers except for some flood flows (??) when it rains heavily. Maybe is better aware of the region...
With pictures like these they wanna draw you in!
Well to summarize I think it is a great tour but the distance for me is a bit too much for such a short holiday. When Marianne retires we will go there once more looking at tennis in Melbourne (January) and do South Australia with a campervan. Maybe we can look for some gold then.
I will keep you posted pirates!
