Stackers,
I was just turnig some pages in a German coin cataloque when my eye noticed some South African Springbock coins aka Krugers. But then I realized they were not SA as the header said Gabon and Malawi.
Salivatemetal on youtube would say : **"Let's explore!!!!" **
I did some internet research and I expected the SA Mint to mint these coins but the first one I looked into is minted by the **Bavarian State Mint **in Münich Germany. What a surprise although there are old ties between Germany and SOuth East Africa (now Namibia) but that si far away from Gabon.
The series is continued by Gabon and the Springbock - unlike the Krugerrands - looks to the left. Under the front hoofd in the grass is a hidden animal head that differs each year. To see it you have to turn the coin. I have none so could only look at internet to find it. (Source wiki)
So when you ever see a Springbock walking to the left you canbe assured it is a Gabpn or alawi version made in Germany
Have a nice weekend
