I recently received this 2022 Koala 1oz silver coin from Perth Mint, Australia, cute little marsupial.
Koala
Koalas aren't bears, they were inaccurately identified as bear on first contact and the name stuck - they are marsupials, along with wombats and kangaroos. Koalas natively reside in eastern Australia eucalyptus forests, where they sleep most of the day in the tree branches.
Koala Coin Series from Perth Mint
This 1oz silver Koala coin is from the Perth Mint, Australia. Originally opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch, ownership was transferred to the Western Australia Government in July of 1970. The first Koala coin in the yearly series was released in 1987, this Koala coin is the 2022 edition.
The Koala, design by Ing Ing Jong, is featured on the front side of the coin. The Koala is sleeping on a Eucalyptus tree branch, with the text "KOALA" above it, along the top-right curve of the coin. Along the left curve is the text "2022 1oz 9999 SILVER".
There is a "P" just below the branch on the far right side, that is the Perth Mint mark.
The reverse side of the coin features the head and shoulders of Queen Elizabeth II, looking to the right.
Along the top curve of the coin is the text "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA", along the bottom curve is the text "1 DOLLAR".
Cute Koala showing maximum relaxation on this coin, it has a minimalist charm to it, a fine silver addition to the stack.
