A Panda Silver Coin from a recent delivery, this one is a full 31 gram Troy Ounce - from the Niue, New Zealand Mint.
The Panda Bear
Panda Bears are from central China, the mountain regions - technically carnivores, but bamboo is more than 99% their diet. Only 1,000 pandas remain, they are classified as a 'vulnerable species', but their cuteness might save them - well recognized for their black and white color fur pattern.
Panda Silver Coin
This One Troy Ounce pure silver Panda Coin is from the Niue, New Zealand Mint - known for their high quality and pop-culture designs. They did a great job with the white appearing panda patterns on this coin, it's not painted white, it's the texture.
The front side of the coin has an adult and young panda relaxing while munching on a patch of bamboo, with mountains in the background. Along the top-left curve of the coin is Chinese text that translates to "Giant Panda". Along the bottom curve of the coin is the text "999 FINE SILVER ONE TROY OUNCE".
The reverse side of the coin features the head of Queen Elizabeth II, looking to the right. The "IRB" text below the Queen's neck are the initials of Ian Rank-Broadley, the designer of this effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Radial lines are in the background to help prevent counterfeiting, it has a nice look too.
Along the top curve of the Queen side of the coin is the text "ELIZABETH II NIUE TWO DOLLARS", along the bottom curve is the text "2017" for the year it was minted.
A fine Silver Panda Coin is added to the stack. I'm most impressed with the white appearing texture technique from the New Zealand Mint - I've previously been enticed to pick up a few of their other coins.
