I recently ordered these two gold coins as part of my February DCA.
For anyone unfamiliar, dollar‑cost averaging simply means buying the same amount of precious metals on a regular schedule, regardless of price. I do mine monthly because it keeps me consistent and stops me from overthinking the timing. I’ve been stacking this way since I started, and it’s helped me stay disciplined instead of trying to time the market.
The random‑date Gold Maple Leaf was pretty inexpensive, so I grabbed one.
"Inexpensive" is relative, lol. Not too long ago, I could buy about 1/4 oz of gold for what this 1/10 oz cost me today.
The price today of a random date 1/0 oz Maple Leaf is $640.65 plus tax.
I paid only $546.74, including tax, for this coin!
I'm pretty happy with that price. It felt like the right moment to grab it, so I didn’t hesitate. The premium wasn’t bad at all, especially considering how things have been trending lately.
I’ve been trying to stay disciplined with my stacking, and this one fit perfectly into the plan. Overall, I really feel good about this pickup.
And to top it all off, the seller ended up sending me an old coin
instead of a newer one. The moment I saw the obverse, I knew it was something special. It carries the portrait of a foreign monarch I’ve always had a soft spot for. Anyone who knows me already understands where this is going. The “long neck Elizabeth” design has been my favorite for as long as I’ve been collecting. Getting one unexpectedly like this just made the whole purchase feel even better.
