I have these two 20 Franc Lucky Angels that were minted 10 years apart!
I keep coming back to these two 20 Franc Lucky Angels, minted ten years apart, and the more I sit with them, the stranger it feels. They look almost identical with the same design. But that quiet ten‑year gap between them keeps poking at me.
The one on the left is a 1877 Gold 20 Franc Lucky Angel, and beside it is 1897 20 Franc Lucky Angel. A decade is one of those stretches of time that feels small when you say it out loud, but huge when you actually think about it. Ten years is enough for a whole life chapter to start and end. Enough for you to move houses, switch jobs, lose people, find new people, pick up habits, drop others, and somehow still feel like you’re the same person. But you’re not. Not really.
If a baby had been born the year the first coin was minted, that kid would be ten by the time the second one showed up. Ten! That’s a whole little human with a personality, favorite snacks, a best friend, and probably a strong opinion about dinosaurs. Meanwhile, these coins just sit there, unchanged, like time barely brushed past them.
It’s wild how objects can hold still while we’re out here doing all the growing and stumbling and learning. These two coins don’t show the decade between them, but I do. You do. We all do.
Funny how something so small can make time feel short or long depending on what you state if mind is. Like... I been stacking for ten years!
