In gold or silver, it depicts a prospector squatting down along a riverbed and panning for gold. It is a favorite subject design for rounds and art bars by a few foundries and mints, as well as mine
And it all started with the 1925 California Silver Half Dollar Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Coin of the U.S. Mint. The coin features a prospector on the obverse and a grizzly bear on the reverse. It was minted to celebrate the 75th anniversary of California's statehood.

The American prospector design is a story of migration, ambition, and toughness... for a chance of a better life... which still resonates today.
I'll always treasure the American Prospector.
