We’re back with day eight of the “12 Days of Christmas” precious metals challenge, and today we’re switching back to gold. While we’re still talking about small fractions of the yellow metal, there’s something particularly charming about the 1/20th oz gold coins. They’re tiny, yes, but they hold all the prestige and allure of full-ounce bullion in a size that’s easier on the wallet, or at least a little easier these days.
Among the many designs available, one of my all-time favourites is the Chinese Panda 1/20th oz gold coin. These little gems are a perfect blend of artistry and investment, with each annual design featuring that instantly recognisable panda motif that collectors worldwide have come to love. The craftsmanship and history behind these coins make them stand out, and for such a small piece, they pack a serious punch when it comes to visual appeal.
While they do carry a small premium compared to some other fractional gold options, they typically come in around £210+, which is more or less in line with most other 1/20th oz gold coins on the market. For me though, that iconic panda design just gives them the edge, and if I’m going to add another sliver of gold to my stack, I want it to be something that makes me smile every time I look at it.
So, Santa, if you’re listening, maybe slip a tiny gold panda into my stocking this year. It might be small, but it would mean a lot.
