Dear community, I would have really loved to go out and take some beautiful towns season photos for you guys. Graz is always especially beautifully decorated for Christmas. But unfortunately, I'm still in this crazy lockdown of the unvaccinated, so no chance to make new photos for you. Also in my archive I have found no really useful photos. In fact, it seems like I've had something other than taking photos on my mind at all the Christmas markets I've visited in my life so far? ;-) Therefore, every time a new post appears here in IYC I am happy to see it.
The 3rd two-weekly contest of the Introduce Your City community has been running for a week now and it's half time!

It's very interesting that the fir tree and snow seems to have become a symbol of Christmas all over the world, even in southern countries. Interesting because the real manger of Jesus Christ was in Bethlehem and there, as far as I know, there were neither snow nor fir trees.
But probably this comes from the fact that Christmas became the "successor" of the Nordic annual festival JUL to the winter solstice. And this JUL of course is traditionally associated with winter, fir trees and snow.

Liebe IYC Fans :-) der 3. zweiwöchige Contest der Introduce Your City Community läuft jetzt seit einer Woche und es ist Halbzeit!
Ich wäre wirklich gerne losgezogen, um schöne Fotos für euch zu machen. Graz ist zu Weihnachten immer ganz besonders schön dekoriert. Aber leider, bin ich immer noch im Lockdown der Ungeimpften, daher keine Möglichkeit euch schöne neue Fotos zu machen. Auch in meinem Archiv habe ich dazu keine wirklich brauchbaren Fotos gefunden. Es scheint tatsächlich, als hätte ich bisher auf all den Weihnachtsmärkten die ich in meinem Leben besucht hatte etwas anderes als Photos zu machen im Kopf gehabt? ;-) Glühwein vielleicht? Umso mehr freue ich mich jedes mal, wenn hier ein neuer Beitrag auftaucht.
Bisher haben wir drei wundervolle Beiträge zum Thema "Weihnachten und andere Feierlichkeiten in meiner Stadt" erhalten und einmal mehr bin ich erstaunt, wie unterschiedlich gewisse Dinge auf der Welt gehandhabt werden.

Sehr interessant finde ich, dass die Tanne und Schnee anscheinend auf der ganzen Welt, auch in südlichen Ländern zu einem Symbol für Weihnachten geworden sind. Interessant deswegen, weil die echte Krippe von Jesus Christus in Betlehem stand und dort gab es meines Wissens weder Schnee noch Tannen.
Aber wahrscheinlich hat das alles damit zu tun, dass Weichnachten der "Nachfolger" vom nordischen Jahresfest JUL zur Wintersonnenwende wurde. Und dieses JUL ist natürlich traditionell mit Winter, Tannen und Schnee verbunden.
Wenn ihr am Wochenende in eurer Heimat unterwegs seid und schöne festliche Dekorationen seht, denkt bitte an mich in meinem verrückten Lockdown und lasst die IYC Community in Form von Fotos oder Geschichten an eurem Weihnachtsausflug teilhaben!
