Medulin is my hometown, a place where I lived almost my entire life. It was a village when I was a kid, and nowadays it's some sort of small, tourism-oriented town that gets crowded in summer and then deserted for the rest of the year.
in this post, I'll show you seven shots that show six very mundane scenes set in Medulin. The only interesting thing about the random stuff you'll see here is that each scene belongs to a different year.
I'll start with this dynamic scene from the winter of 2014. A small group of windsurfers and kitesurfers was speeding across the vast shallows near the beach in the bay of Medulin. As you can see in this photograph, the day was gray and windy but probably it wasn't very cold.
Here you can take a look at one of the narrow streets in the old center of Medulin. Judging by the look of the asphalt, the photograph was taken after the rain. The year was 2015.
In this evening shot from 2016, you can see the iconic church towers of Medulin and one of the town's streetlamps. Both things look slightly different nowadays.
This 2017 photograph shows a fairly big hotel and some other buildings near the harbor in its background, while in the foreground you can see the movement of the shallow, brackish sea at high tide.
Here you can see a big old tree that looks cool and gothic at dusk and dawn. In 2018, when the photograph was taken, most of its branches were cut. I don't know how the tree looks right now or if it's even there. I pass that way almost every day but I stopped noticing the tree if it's there or failed to notice its absence if it isn't.
In January 2019, a couple of months before I discovered Steemit, the controversial ancestor of Hive, and started blogging & exploring the crypto stuff, two men were doing some Internet-related work in my neighborhood.
I remember seeing them sitting each day in front of another house and doing some stuff with cables. They had two chairs, a table, and many interesting tools. It looked a bit like an art performance or something similar. Definitively cool. Definitely something worth photographing.
And that's it. If it seems that there isn't much diversity from photograph to photograph; if you think that they could have very well been taken on the same day and that this thing is surprisingly boring for a post that covers such an epic time span - well, that's becouse Medulin is a pretty uneventful little town.
AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, AS IT WAS ON STEEMIT BEFORE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS - OLD OR NEW, ARE MY WORK.
