IYC contest #6. Seating Accommodations .:. Benches of St.Petersburg, Russia .:. EN/RU

This is a bench of some classic design from the Soviet era, mid-twentieth century. The cast-iron side parts are eternal, and the wooden beams are very maintainable, the benches are comfortable and still adorn the city's parks. I sincerely hope that they will not disappear anywhere even in 50 years. Although today they are perceived as something in the "retro" style, and of course the city is full of benches of other, more modern shapes and sizes...

Это скамейка классического дизайна родом из советской эпохи, середина ХХ века. Чугунные боковые части вечны, а деревянные брусья весьма ремонтопригодны, скамейки удобны и до сих пор украшают парки города. Искренне надеюсь, что они никуда не исчезнут и через 50 лет. Хотя уже сегодня они воспринимаются как нечто в стиле "ретро", и конечно в городе полно скамеек других, более современных форм и типоразмеров...

On the benches, the townspeople eat .... smoke, sleep, read books, hug and kiss, relax, watch the autumn leaves fall, or just warm themselves in the sun ...

На скамейках горожане едят.... спят, читают, обнимаются и целуются, отдыхают, просто греются под солнышком...

And sometimes the benches are simply ignored - nature calls more strongly, and children prefer to saddle a tree trunk, and girls sit down to drink their coffee and eat breakfast on soft grass.

А иногда их просто игнорируют - природа зовет сильнее, и дети предпочитают оседлать ствол дерева, а девушки садятся выпить свой кофе и съесть завтрак на мягкую траву.

Underground - this is where seating places are exactly needed. The stations are equipped with a large number of different kinds of benches; in fact, all of them are made of wood and marble, and are part of the station - fixed and immovable.

Вот где посадочные места точно необходимы. Станции метро оснащены большим количеством разного рода скамеечек, почти все они сделаны из дерева и мрамора и являются частью станции - несъемной.

Cemeteries are a place where you can’t do without benches either. I pulled out two cards from the archive with the most common graveyard benches.

Кладбища это такое место, где без скамеечек тоже нельзя обойтись. Я вытащил из архива две карточки с самыми обычными кладбищенскими скамеечками.

Sometimes one may find a chair on the streets... but if we do not count the chairs that are usually included into interior on any outdoors cafe, then the chairs are still rare.

Иногда на улицах можно встретить и стулья... но если мы не считаем обычные стулья, входящие в комплект поставки во всяких кафе, то стулья все-таки редкость.

A unique bench, which I believe exists in a single edition, was found on the territory of Lenpoligraphmash art space : the circular bench "utilizes" the abandoned brick chimney of an old defunkt plant. Isn't that cute?!

Уникальная скамейка, существующая в единственном экземпляре, была найдена на территории Ленполиграфмаша: скамейка "утилизирует" кирпичную трубу давно остановленного завода. Разве это не мило?!

Seating places in the form of hammocks are rare and exclusive. And also terribly touching! This courtyard was found in the 'Nikolsky Ryady' art space.

Cидячие места в виде гамаков - редкость и эксклюзив. И тоже ужасно трогательно! Этот двор был найден в арт-пространстве "Никольских рядах".

My city is also known as the North Venice, and the architecture of its historical center is well observed from the board of a small channel boat. A large number of such boats as in the photo above offer cozy seating accommodations to the tourists ... and warm woolen blankets are surely included with benches (tho are not included in my capture :)

Мой город также известен как Северная Венеция, и архитектуру центральной исторической части города хорошо рассматривать с борта прогулочного катера. Большое количество таких катеров и лодок как на фото выше, предлагают для туристов места... в комплекте со скамейками обязательно идут теплые шерстяные одеяла (в кадр не попали :)

And here is an even more unique and luxurious example of what my city has to offer: movable seats, on the back of a pony or inside an earl's or baron's carriage. Needless to say, even a small pastime in this style will cost you quite a penny... but probably such a pleasure, the experience of a little time travel is worth the money.

А вот еще более роскошный пример эксклюзива, который может предложить мой город: движимые сидячие места, на спине пони или внутри графской или баронской кареты. Нужно ли говорить, что времяпрепровождение в таком стиле влетит вам в копеечку... но наверное такое удовольствие, опыт маленького путешествия во времени стоит того.
