For years now there has been a rumour circulating in the television environment, confirmed by the facts, that anyone who tries to adapt a Stephen King story on TV will end up failing. And actually, if we look at the many TV adaptations of these years, there isn't one that has completely convinced us.
Lots of failures, some decent products but none that have left their mark.
After so many attempts maybe we finally found the right way. It took the usual tireless HBO to change things. With The Outsider in fact, we are faced with a solid, intense and mysterious product. All adjectives that perfectly embody the vision of Stephen King and his stories. Jason Bateman and Ben Mendhelson are the best known faces of a pool of actors in great shape who in this TV series manage to convey a frightening force to a story that works a lot on the construction of mystery and tension. A murder of a child is the spark that sets off the bomb that will shock people, families and an entire community. The character of Bateman will immediately be arrested. There will be a great deal of hard evidence hanging over him. There will also be a great deal of unequivocal evidence to prove his innocence. Everything is at stake on this paradox and it is this paradox that will push the whole narrative towards horizons to be discovered.
Arrived almost halfway through the season, the TV series has proved to be solid, well written and shot. Will it be the good time?
