Survival Game
Live or die is a survival game from notfoundames developers whose focus is making survival games. The game caught my attention when I got into Mobile games again, thanks to being sick, I finally got to play some games. Anyway, most of the games I played are often survival and apocalypse themed especially when it involves zombies. Last year, I played State of survival and it was something I was willing to spend money on. Sadly though, I forgot my access to that game and the rest is history. Live or die caught my attention the most just because it has adventure, crafting and instead of automatically fighting the zombies, I have to walk and kill them all. Needless to say, it was fun. However, there are things that I wish could have been better. Without further ado…This is my walkthrough and review of it.
Live or Die Beta Walkthrough
From the first screen you will see that this game is made with unity. Then, you’ll see the loading screen and eventually the map. The game is pretty basic. You can not choose the character. There is only one male character that comes with basic clothing. As you can see below, this is my current character at lvl 12 without cheats or mod. From the backpack screen you can see your character, the weapons you have and some stats like energy, food, water, and drone (ability to respawn without losing items).
Then, there's a blueprints page which shows things and objects you can craft. They are unlocked depending on the levels that you have. So far with level 12, I have unlocked pretty decent items. The objects to craft something are obtained through different map adventures that you can unlock through the radio that you have at the home base.
In terms of difficulty getting the items, it’s not that easy. The game has something called “energy” which recharges 1 every 5 minutes. Meanwhile, a quick run to the nearest map costs 16 energy. There is a slower option but you have to wait for 14 minutes just to reach the nearest map. It’s really not worth it. Not to mention, the energy costs a lot if you buy it through coins that you can purchase with your local currency. I would say, it’s not worth it.
Now, when you try to collect resources, there are zombies everywhere. You have to kill them and some rather rare items can be found inside bags which are mostly guarded by high level zombies. One of the most annoying things that can happen is when you have great items but you have to die because you are outnumbered and you don’t have drones to save you.
When it comes to their UI and UX experience, I think the beta version lacks good translation. There are words that are still written in Russian and have yet to be translated into English. So sometimes there are words that you probably don't understand unless you speak russian. There are also some advertisement options where you can obtain some resources through watching ads. I think if you like playing free, that’s one of the options to advance in this game. Otherwise, you have to grind and it really takes time before you can even get the items and complete the mini mission available in the game.
The game is basically an adventure completing mini missions here and there, crafting and unlocking places. I think if you have achieved everything, it can get quite repetitive and boring. However, the fun lies when you’re like me, casually playing it and not wanting to spend money on it. This game is also available in the pro version that costs around $1, though from what I read, there are not many differences with the beta version. So, if you just want to play casually, get the beta version instead of the pro version.
When I tried screenshotting the game, I actually lost a very nice suit that you saw earlier. So, I have to craft my clothes all over again which was costing me a bit of my resources. I actually have yet to find survival games that are quite addictive and closer to real life situations. I think Dead maze was closer as you can play it with friends but sometimes after finishing the missions, it can get pretty repetitive too. Adding the social aspect was certainly cherry on top but sometimes, being a lone wolf is great. From what I read through their google play description, there is a plan to add that feature. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Who knows but I certainly like the game as it is now.
