Mission ready!
Good times in Fort Drum, NY
When there is a mission you prepare.
I came into contact with the subject of security early on.
My first job was securing a Hollywood production site and at some point later I was employed as a security officer for U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR). As a military spouse I experienced the everyday life of US soldiers up close.
My last mission had me work as a Personal Security Detail (PSD) for celebrities.
The new PSD
When missions change you have to react.
My excursion into the world of the military and security is now a thing of the past.
We all get older and Covid certainly made this business unreachable for me. Once things go back to somewhat normal me and my partner were gone too long. It's a competitive business where you need lots of Vitamin B.
But I have a new mission starting tomorrow! It may not be Kim Kardashian I'm guarding anymore, but a pack of dogs.
PSD stands for Personal Security Dog Walker from now on.
Mission success is having the right equipment.
As a soldier you pack you duffle bag and get your weapons and armor ready. As a PSD you get yourself and your brain ready. You are equipped with the little but necessary things. Tactical flashlight, communication, inconspicuous but effective it has to be.
As a dog walker I need some practical gear. The clients I am guarding from now on are weather proof. So I spoiled myself for Christmas with some nice pants.
Blakläder
It's a Swedish company manufacturing heavy- duty work wear. Just the right thing for me. Durable, long-lasting, good quality.
I needed practical pants where I can store literally everything. Phone, leashes, carabiners, emergency kit, keys, tissues, gloves etc.
My entire appearance is back to the old order: All black!
7192 Blakläder® women's pants 4-way stretch was the answer to my prayers.
Not only has it neat details like this zipper reminder, but a lot of storage options.
Like two large back pockets.
Sewn holster pockets on both sides with different compartments, an ID holder and magnetic closures. No loud Velcro fastener that wears out quickly anymore. Smooth and silent it is now.
There are also two large side pockets.
I can use the compartments on both sides of the legs for various things. It's the perfect tactical wear if you work with dogs.
There are also several options to hang a short leash with a carabiner. This leash is my weapon and as you know, your life saver must be ready at hands.
No mission without ammo.
These days it wont be a CZ 75 and its magazines. To have a successful mission I need to equip myself with little bullets.
You have different caliber sizes but I will go with the 9mm. They are big enough for the large breeds and small enough for the little comrades.
The armory.
The work wear I just introduced is the perfect treat holster. The pouches and pockets fit an immense amount of dog treats, small happy grenades.
It is part of my mission to train the dogs. My pack needs to listen and going through bootcamp having incentives is key.
I got my stuff set up, as you could see above.
To be successful it took more than buying some quality pants. I made sure I have my base layer, second and third layer set up in high quality as well.
I also had to get what I needed to secure the well being of my future protectees. Water canister, several sorts of leashes, muzzles, towels, poop bags.
To be mission ready you need to know where to go and when. Advancing POIs is a no brainer to me.
I think I'm pretty well set for my first mission tomorrow.
And even though my bullets are treats, a mission is a mission!
Army strong!
